Taking solace in the fact I am not a Dee's supporter, there seems to be know rhyme or rhythm in their selections and its seems like they are having a crack at any player that is mentioned.
Wierd that Collingwood chose not to take him as a FA.
Given their rivalry with Carlton you'd think they'd just keep the pick and not use it.
Maybe a bit of good will amongst clubs. From my understanding Tom Young was going to get squeezed out because of Russell. We had interest in him so they traded him to us then ontraded that pick to Carlton.
It was the same with Rodan and Port Adelaide. They could have done the same.
My concern is his off-field behaviour and to me he appears selfish on field. Not sure how he and Jack will work together.
I don't believe that is the case at all.
Works very hard defensively in a North forward line which is often one short - as they more often than not have an extra runner behind the ball.

His knee might last a season. Other than that, great little bloke

The fact that it was our pick that we threw in to sweeten the Lake deal gets up my nose.
Interesting. So the net result is that Hawks have basically swapped Gilham for Lake (slight downgrade of picks in the 20's notwithstanding) and effectively get Anderson for that low 40's pick they traded to us as part of the Lake deal. All reports here have suggested Anderson is worth far more than that, and probably would have been gone well before the pick 22 in any event had Hawthorn kept it in the first place.
The value in not showing your hand too early in the trade period.
