Re: 2012 Trade rumours and discussion

I don't mind picking up Dawes. Would have been a lot happier about if we had of gotten to keep pick27.

You think 27 would get the job done. This is just your opinion - or do you know otherwise?

Thats how I would see it panning out, Sedat.

        Dawes and 41
        for
        Lake and 27.

Considering Dawes is likely to be playing for 7-8 years, and Brian for 1, 2 or 3 tops - there's some more balance to it there.

I don't necessarily think the above is equitable - but I think Dawes is being judged harshly and just on this years output - as opposed to his 2010 and first half of 2011 where he was well-regarded prior to his hand injury.

In going after the silver lining - pick 21 is a complete unknown - whereas we know right now that Dawes makes the grade - and we would expect him to be a senior player when we are theoretically a good side again.

Anyways - just thinking out aloud. I'm not necessarily for or against.

Good summation Ozza. All I'll say is that it would completely contradict what was said by the club yesterday to explain the rationale behind trading Lake. All the talk yesterday was about gaining an extra pick in the 1st round and having 6 picks in the top 50 to rebuild the list.

Going to be an interesting couple of weeks. I just hope it's not interesting in the 2003 trade week way

Wonder if Sherman could be used in any Dawes deal. A possible replacement for Wellingham?

If it could happen, would you be willing to pay for some of his contract? I can't see Collingwood having space in their cap to accommodate his entire salary.

If we don't want him, and we can use him in order to improve our position then I'd consider paying part of his final year's contract.

We're going to struggle to pay the 95% anyway!

I know jack, but the pies are under cap pressure, and have brought in Lynch so Dawes is on the market, and his other suitors dont have a pick below 27, so...

I agree, I am still wondering how we are going to pay 95%....

Yes, it certainly moves away from yesterday's line/sound bite.

                      In theory.

                      Pick 5
                      Pick 6
                      Dawes > Lake
                      Pick 41
                      Lachlan Hunter.
                      Pick 47

and we hope that all 6 blokes are playing in 2017!

Melbourne is apparently one of his suitors.

Dawes is under contract so Collingwood may not trade him.

It's all over the place, looks like it will be pick 21 for Dawes, announcement soon.
But then again, I'm an Internet poster and Bevo is a premiership coach so draw your own conclusions.

What are the positives to Dawes' game? He's not agile, he's not mobile, he's not a great mark and he's not a big goal kicker.

He works hard, runs straight and provides a contest. That is not worthy of a first round pick. We got the same out of Adam Morgan.

Pick 21 for Dawes is crazy.
                              Hope this doesn't happen.
Would rather have pick 21 in the draft.
