    I don't think Frawley's worth that money.
Jarred's given us 5 minutes of sunshine in 7 years!
I'd go with trying to pry out some of the youngsters from the franchise teams, or alternatively use the draft.

As pointed out consistently we would need to trade for one of the GWS boys and pick 4, 5 or 6 won't cut it. We would need to chuck in a player of the quality of Dahlhaus (just an example) as well.

We should definately attack the new clubs where possible. They have been able to stockpile the elite junior talent of recent years and therefore likely to become the powerhouse teams of the future. So anything we can do to dismantle them will only help our cause as we, hopefully, rise to power with them.

For this to be effective we would need to hit them where it hurts and get a Cameron or Patton et al.

Doc, what could we offer them above our first round pick this year to get a big deal done?

Don't disagree with the above, more illustrating i'd rather pay a higher price and aim for one of those guys than take Frawley as a FA @ $700k p.a.

And for consistency's sake - I'd be open to our first round pick + Dahl.

So which of our current players would you look to sweeten the offer?

Sorry got overtaken by the edit - but our first + Dahl is something I have raised a few times.

The price depends on the circumstances though, doesn't it. If we got our hooks into Patton and he nominated us as "the only club I'll play for" would that give us a bit more scope for negotiation?
They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.

I'm Blue Sky thinking about this one.

Would they take Wood and our pick - they would have to. Letting go of Easton is like cutting off my arm as I've always been a fan but I know GWS really wanted him 2 years ago. He's had a very good season his collateral is right up.

My concern with Dahl is the kennel club / kid membership thing. If we lost Dahl I'm honestly not sure I'll be able to keep my boy on track. He'd be a massive loss in more ways than one.

A valid point - how does your boy feel about him post dreadlocks, and what does he think of Bonts, Strings and Macrae?

More importantly - what might he think of that big guy Patton we have plonked in the goal square!?

I can't think of teams that have had to 'sweeten' deals with quality players winning out in the end.

Dahlhaus would be very close to being in the AA squad this year.. The talk of having to give him up as well as a high 1st round pick is crazy.

Would anyone trade Bontempelli AND Dalhaus for Patton? Or for anyone for that matter?
Because pick 5 and Dal is pretty much the same thing.

                                GWS might.
