When they have decided that Rhys Stanley offers more as a tall than Hamling, it is not a very good reference for Hamling. Obviously Geelong have had plenty of time to look at Hamling and if they have decided he is not up to it, with their strong development record, I would be inclined to give him a miss.

The same logic applies to Mitch Brown.
    Same here.
They've got Clark and Stanley in ( both are speculative for various reasons) they obviously don't rate him nor Brown

      As the dealdines loom

MELBOURNE has kept the option open of re-selecting Luke Tapscott in December's rookie draft after it delisted the 23-year-old on Friday.Tapscott was pick No.18 in the 2009 NAB AFL Draft and showed versatility playing at half-back and as a defensive forward during his career. Melbourne's Neville Jetta played 16 games in 2014 after being delisted then re-selected as a rookie last year.
COLLINGWOOD is likely to pick up Tony Armstrong in December's rookie draft after delisting him on Friday.

Cameron Delaney showed some promise as a key defender - CHB type - he's the pick of that lot for me

Tapscott was a promising junior - I haven't seen him play in years

Jacob Brennan showed some ability as a rebounding defender

Following on from the delistings and upgrades here is a profile of the clubs by age, from Champion Data

North having an ageing list as does Freo. We are in bottom four

              Re: Other clubs delistings/Want out - 2014

Which delisted players will find a new home?

              WESTERN BULLDOGS

              Corey Dell'Olio (Essendon, 24, 14 games)
Why Dell'Olio? With Luke Dahlhaus playing further up the ground in 2014, the Dogs need to find another small forward and Dell'Olio could fit the bill. Averaged a goal a game at the Bombers but needs to work on his defensive game.
Likelihood? 3/10 The 24-year-old hasn't been linked to Whitten Oval but the Dogs do need to kick more goals. More likely a rookie draft option.

Joel Hamling (Geelong, 21, 0 games)
Why Hamling? The club reportedly liked the versatile big man in his draft year and has been linked to West Australian again recently. Showed some promising signs in his time with the Cats, finishing third in the club's VFL best and fairest this year. Quick for his size, but needs to put on more muscle.
Likelihood? 5/10 With Morris in the twilight of his impressive career, the Dogs could do with another key defender to assist Jordan Roughead, Michael Talia and Fletcher Roberts.

I'm guessing that age graph will show us drop significantly with our recent exodus.

On delistings, we are leaving it to the last minute if we are going to drop any more.
I would of thought 1 more player would go.

                  Likelihood 10/10.
with a couple of average backman now delisted , good to have a punt on Hamling, i don't have my sights set to high but hopefully he keeps his feet and becomes a serviceable reliable player for us in years to come.

                    Ah Melbourne.

If there's one club to make you feel better about who you support, then its this team.

Dom Barry, soon after signing a new two year contract, has decided to leave the game and move back home. This means that in Melbournes' 2012 draft they effectively gave GWS P3 & P14 (Plowman and Corr) for Dom Barry and perennially injured Jesse Hogan.

P4 was on Skinny Jimmy Toumpas. They were handed Viney on a plate.

The shadow just keeps following them.

Another Indigenous player that wants to go back home. Its a shame with all the talent so many players have, and homesickness takes over.

Hogan looks a gun though. An absolute blue chipper if he can get healthy

Barry looked like a country footballer trying to play at the elite level - a long, long, long way off it.

Who did the Dees select with Pick 20? They also got that in the Hogan deal IIRC. Hogan looks a gun, Toumpas has looked poor.

Pick 20 was given to Collingwood as part of the Chris Dawes trade.
