Was lucky enough to see Jack White at the Forum last Monday night. I had built up the gig so much in the days leading up I started to think it cannot live up to my expectations.

I could not have been more wrong. It was one of the best live shows I have ever been to.

I am actually jealous of people who are going to his next lot of shows.

The first four or five songs he kicked the set off were mind-blowingly good- each one could have been the last song of the night. The band literally played for an hour with each song blending into the next before there was some sort of break between songs.

This is day seven since I saw him live and I am still playing wall to wall of White Stripes and his solo stuff, and it is not slowing down.

Please tell me I wasn't the only one who saw Air tonight.

Man they were amazing. Their sound was awesome for the Opera House, it translated perfectly to the hill at the Bowl. Next level good.
Ha! so you ended up going and your fears were put to bed about the potential second gig let down.

Yeah, completely different vibes. The Bowl is a great venue up on the hill chilling out, the Opera House is something else altogether.

They closed with this as per last time. Pretty amazing stuff.

        This one for Happy Days:

You booked the wrong ticket. Should have booked Fontaines DC instead

Went to see Nathaniel Rateliff + City and Colour out at Red Hill last night.

Usual venue issues out there (Red Hill) - it is a spectacular place to watch any band and sound is brilliant...but it takes over an hour to get out of the car park...when will they do something? Anyway, more fool me as everytime I go there I swear never again then they book a gig like this and off I go. Then at around 1:30am I finally manage to get home...what a bloody debacle!

Anyway, venue parking issues aside, we also got Caitlin Harnett in the support spot and whilst she only did maybe 30-minutes it was a great set and really enjoyable...to me was that rare 'opening act' that really tried to wind up the crowd and get things moving rather than apologetically perform to an audience who she knew wasn't there for her...does that make sense? Anyway, a fun set. She's playing again tonight and I'm probs going to make the (much shorter) trip into Fremantle to see her...

Back to last night, I've seen City and Colour a few times now and he again put on a good show - not sure what else to say. I swear last time I saw him he was on-stage solo but this tour he had a 4-piece backing band and it certainly made for a much more 'fun' and generally upbeat show than last time...It sounds funny but even though C&C was the headliner I was most keen to see Rateliff for the first time and it was pretty incredible. So rare to see a touring 8-piece these days - 3x horns - and they sounded so good (helped by the venue). As for the lead singer/guitarist/tambourine dancer...what an entertainer he is. Actually hard to understand how a short fat bloke in a bad suit held everyone in such rapt attention...they also had an awesome lights show and really seemed to go all the way to make people have a great time. I just don't know any other bands right now that combine 60's soul with modern rock/country rock...the bands ability to put it all together on stage really was incredible.

HIGHLY recommend. If they come back I'll be first in line!

I do feel like I've been spoiled by some great gigs lately...
What should I tell her? She's going to ask.

Idles was madness. I feel sorry for anyone that's never seen them live.

Saw “An Evening Without Kate Bush” tonight at Arts Centre, or rather last night. Fun show and UK performer Sarah Louise Young is funny, charming and has a damn fine voice. I like some Kate Bush songs but I’m definitely not a huge Kate Bush fan and interestingly a fair few of audience seemed to be similarly inclined. Yet audience response was excellent.

Back in 2013 I saw CIty and Colour at Sidney Myer Music bowl (?) and they were so bloody good.

The next day I am in the city and I see Dallas wondering around by himself, I thought, oh, is that Dallas Greene, and before I had finished my thought, I shouted out his name and he turned around and has a great chat for about five minutes. Great memories.

Speaking of headliners and supports I'm disappointed that Jason Isbell is supporting Paul Kelly, honestly, it should be the other way around.
