The immigration song riff is so simple but without page playing it sounds average.

I found myself with the offer of a free ticket to The Forum in a VIP booth to see Jordan Rakei tonight. With a brief summary given of the type of tunes he writes and the artists he sometimes collaborates with I was fifty fifty, but how often do you get to have beers on a Monday night with good friends?

Anyway, I was so glad I decided to go. I purposely didn't listen to any of his studio work so I could go in fresh, and his dual percussion, multiple key and guitar set up with his touring band was outstanding. I also realised on the way in I had never been to The Forum, so it was extra special. An insanely special, cheek shivers and tears in the eye moment was when his new keyboard and vocalist (I think it was Eliza Oakes) did a vocal solo and brought the house down, literally amazing stuff (think White Rabbit amazing).

How good is taking a chance on live music, outside of your usual comfort zone.

        TF is this?.........Obviously you're not a golfer.

I love Zeppelin and Jimmy Page. Brilliant guitarist but I never get the greatest title though-I mean how do you compare? There are so many great guitarists that it is impossible to pick one as the best - what about Ritchie Blackmore or Eddie Van Halen or Angus Young or Knopfler -,that is just to name a few.

I hate the laziness of nostalgia tours and strongly believe that you should continue make the effort to discover and support new music.
But also, The Lemonheads are touring their 2 biggest albums which are 30 years old, so I reckon I’ll go to that despite the possibility of Dando ****ing it up.

Exactly. Clapton, Hendrix, Townshend, Peter Green etc etc. And that's just rock guitarists from a certain era. You listen to interviews with any of the aforementioned guys and they'll talk of blokes you've never heard of. And then there's jazz guitarists...wow. But it's a bit of fun.

It's generally easier to accept the right answer is whatever the baby boomers remember from their day.

The single thing they won't admit was better in their day is housing affordability and the ease at which you could buy a property.

I mean, if Eric Clapton is on your list, get a better list.

He's fine, but what makes a good player? Do you have to write it and be able to play it or just be able to play it?

I don't check best guitar player lists, where does Prince sit? One of the most forgotten things about him is how good he was technically on the strings. Most people remember him for his idiosyncrasies and rib removal rumours, forgetting how proficient he was musically.

It depends how much you value technical proficiency over feel and the ability to convey feeling through playing or vice versa. Obviously there’s more to it, but I’d suggest Prince was a pretty brilliant mix of the two.
I fall squarely in preferring the latter category, but then I’m an incredibly shitty guitar player.

Some might enjoy Clapton’s guitar playing and I’m not denigrating that, as much of my opinion is coloured by the fact that he’s a cock and I struggle to move past that fact.
