Not a foot tapper but on thread Dig a Pony by The Beatles is always in my "music make me feel good" kit bag.
I'm always fascinated by their chord progressions and the B m to G 7 change in the verse ("you can celebrate anything you want" part) makes me happy every damn time.

The walking guitar parts are also amazingly fun to play.

I think it's about Heroin (pony = horse) and I know JL didn't really like it but maybe more about that period.

I'm not sure its a heroin reference. I am pretty certain this was just a nonsense rhyme. In fact I think the song was primarily filled with placeholder lyrics..that he never bothered to resolve.
Lennon really disliked it too, but I thought the actually melody was one of the more laid back and natural bluesy grooves they were able to achieve. I rate it as a track.

Interesting take. I hadn't thought of it like that, but I can now see it GG, nice pick-up and perspective!.
On one of the Anthology CDs you hear Lennon, as he prepares to do a guitar/guide vocal take for A Day in the Life, get his rhythm pattern down by softly repeating the phrase 'Sugar Plum Fairy'... that does line up with the piano rhythm too.

Just a couple of things I've noticed, for eg the Dig a Pony verse first few bars the A -> hammer ons feels very two handed piano like.

This went off big time in 1999 at Festival Hall.

This tune was huge in the early 00's, the late Phil K and Luke Chable managed to get it onto Sasha's first Involver album which was a really big deal at the time.

It represented a particular Melbourne sound which was the world leading sound for progressive breaks in that era. Nothing is out of place, the levels are sweet.

I've had many amazing floor moments, none are much better or even close to when this tune opened up.

I've been lost down the Beatles rabbit hole for months since this post. They started on guitars, so I was most likely wrong however the fact they play a few instruments may certainly influence their writing.
