Perhaps just not quite quick enough. He also makes some handy scores with the bat. I think any captain would be happy to have him in the side.

Fergus O'Neill with 10 wickets for the game as the VIC's scrape home by 23 runs against SA.

Looks like a guy who might be suited more-so to England/NZ. Not sure what the speed difference is but Mitch Perry has always caught my eye as a guy who might be able to feature in Australia colours.

South Australian cricket seems to be in a bit of a mess. Best I can tell only 2 of the 11 that took the field against Victoria are actually from SA in Lehmann and Carey. They have been poor for years now and don't seem to have much homegrown talent coming through.

My father in law is from SA and reckons their premier cricket is of a low standard.

          Thank goodness for Travis Head!

Buckingham is a really impressive bowler, probably lacks a bit of pace for the next level unfortunately

I saw Jimmy Peirson standing up to the stumps to him (and getting a leg side catch) and I think the commentator said he was bowling in the low 130's which will limit him. It's a great effort for him to get selected let alone taking 3 wickets.

I know there is an obsession with pace, but I prefer a bowler who consistently gets wickets over one who just bowls fast.

Tough viewing in the PMXI match today, Bancroft still hasn't fixed his head falling over and Renshaw has been tough to watch. A big Renshaw fan but needed to show more intent when putting his hand up for selection especially against this attack. Hopefully him and Green can get the run-rate up tomorrow morning.

Agreed. Glen McGrath rarely bowled over 130kph. Hit the right spots consistently and you'll get wickets at any level.
They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.

Good effort by Renners today, has to be at the top of the pecking order now and to be unbeaten is very impressive.
Bit concerned how him and Ussie will go together, Usman will need to pick up the scoring rates.
McSweeney was very impressive, unlucky to get out to a really sharp catch.

It was a sensational catch to dismiss McSweeney
                        Green chased a wide one.

I wonder how much weight the selectors would place on the innings by Renshaw? He can't do much more than that though.

I think Renshaw is a better option than Bancroft, he wasn't bad Bancroft but he continued his old habit of his head really falling over which will get exposed at the next level. Think it really comes down to if they want to accomodate Marsh and Green into the same side or just pick a specialised opener. Renshaws form for AUS A and PMXI this year and last has been very impressive.

I was wondering just how talent deep Australian cricket is at the moment so I thought I'd do an A, B and C best 11 and see how strong it is. Feel free to call out players I've missed or over/underrated.

                            A
                            Warner
                            Khawaja
                            Labuschagne
                            Smith
                            Head
                            Marsh
                            Carey
                            Cummins
                            Starc
                            Lyon
                            Hazlewood

                            B
                            Bancroft
                            Harris
                            Renshaw

                            Neser
                            Morris
                            Murphy

                            McSweeney
                            Hardie
                            Webster
                            Peirson
                            J.Richardson
                            O'Neill
                            Steketee
                            Kuhnemann

I must have missed quite a few? I couldn't find a spot for Sutherland. Our spin bowling depth isn't good at all.

Good to see all those hundreds of millions of $$ paid by the tax-payer on the 55 stages of the refurbishment of Pork-Barrel Shithole Toy Ground with No Wings Park hasn't been for nothing.

What a useless piece of shit ground.

I saw Kerry O'Keefe on Fox last night saying that Australians have lost their love of cricket. Is it true?
                                I still love watching cricket.
