I'd still suspect a Lakers V Celtics finals rematch at this stage, but theres still a lot of water to go under the bridge.
Thanks BR, great article on Battier and the Rockets. "Moneyball" is a fascinating read and not just for Baseball fans.

Edit: apparently Kobe had the better of Battier today though. Scored 37 on 14-23 shooting and the Lakers won by 6 after being down by 11 at half time.

I'm hoping the Cavs can continue their run at home. Only one home loss for the season from memory - if they finish top in the East they will be hard to beat.

Backed them a while ago when they were at $8.00 - just concerned about the cohesion of the team once Wallace is back - and how long it will take to get it together with him back in the line up.

Did you see their result against the Clippers the other day? Down 69-53 at the end of the third, scored 34 points to 14 in the last to win by 4. Talk about cutting it fine.

Wins a win but their recent play of late is a concern. The Cavs reminds me of our very own Bulldogs (part of the reason why I go for them) . Started the season off hot and were putting teams away rather than just winning. Now we're letting teams stay in the game and it's hurting us because we're one of the worst 3rd quarter teams (Cavs). I'd put it down to the starting-5 injuries and the trade deadline would have had to have been distracting as well.

In other NBA news Paul got his 6th triple-double of the year (highest in NBA) to lead Hornets to victory. I'm with who said the Hornets could be a nightmare for the Lakers/Spurs in the finals. They started off the season on fire and have slipped away but if they can find that spark they're a massive chance, especially with someone like Chris Paul playing point.

Good to see Rose show Westbrook how to play basketball today.

Lopez is ROY for me, even though I know he won't get it. It is almost unheard of to see a 1st year big man do what he is doing.

The 'Sports Guy' wrote a piece about this game called the 'Dumbleavy Era'.

After watching the Clippers blow a 19-point fourth-quarter lead to the Cavs, the Sports Guy was outraged -- but not one bit surprised.
What should I tell her? She's going to ask.

decent read. He makes Dunleavy sound like the dumbest coach on the planet.

He has had a decent amount of success over the years so that's a little harsh. When they signed Davis and traded for Camby I really thought they would be a fairly strong team this year. I really think chemistry issues have been the problem from the start. Dunleavy has not changed the way he runs his team to suit a player like Baron Davis and Davis has not tried to adapt either. THis is from the outside looking in, I've barely seen the Clips play all season. Just my opinions based on articles and game reviews.

Trading for Zach Randolph was a disaster, he's a cancer for any team that have him if they can cut him out and find someone else to give that disease to the better they will be, that will probably be to hard and Dunleavy will be fired. Zach Randolph can bring down another team with his lazy attitude and sit on his big fat contract (as well as his big fat arse!)

What are people's thoughts on the Spurs?

Duncan's knee is grabbing the headlines, i wonder how serious it really is.

An interesting few facts that i found on another forum, top three teams from both west & east.

                        Since the all-star break

                        East:

                        Cleveland Cavs – 18 wins / 2 losses (lost to – Houston & Boston)

Orlando Magic – 15 wins / 5 losses (lost to – New Orleans, Chicago, Detroit x 2, and Cleveland)

Boston Celtics – 10 wins / 8 losses (lost to – Utah, Clippers, Detroit, Orlando x 2, Miami, Milwaukee, and Chicago)

                        West:

LA Lakers – 15 wins / 4 losses (lost to – Denver, Phoenix, Portland, Philadelphia)

San Antonio Spurs – 12 wins / 8 losses (lost to – New York, Cleveland, Portland, Dallas, LA Lakers, Oklahoma, Boston, Houston)

Houston Rockets – 15 wins / 5 losses (lost to – Chicago, Utah x 2, LA Lakers, San Antonio)

Cleveland (102)- Mavericks (74) a couple of days ago. Jason Kidd considering joining Cavs next season as an unrestricted free agent. Cleveland 12 wins on the trot (Franchise record)-without Ben Wallace. #1 ranked team in the NBA. All is well in Cleveland town. Dwight Howard became the youngest player to grab 5,000 boards, passing Chamberlain. Alonzo Mourning had his jumper retired by the Heat(1st ever jumper retired by Heat). Other than that, the NBA seems pretty stagnant atm. And playoffs are only a few weeks away?

Cavs have clinched the #1 spot in the East. I'd love to see a Cleveland-Houston final.
                              1. I hate the lakers
                              2. I have a friend who is obsessed with the Rockets/T-Mac so it'd be good to gain extra bragging rights in our Cleveland/LeBron vs Rockets/T-Mac debates

But if it is Lakers vs Cavs in the Finals it'd be good for the official changing of the guard for all those who are still taking Kobe over LeBron. Plus it's probably best if the two top teams and players play off, makes a closer series.

No shot of the Rockets making the finals.

T-Mac doesn't turn up in the playoffs...literraly. He's yet to win a series. And they're a mile off being the best in the west.
