    Re: NBA Thread

Well they have Shaq now as well and Daniels is a 3 so they can do a few things.

Pierce will still play nearly 40 mpg.

I still can't believe, how professional sport is these days, that a simple call can't be made.

          I'm guessing travelling.

NBA refs are fairly lenient on that call though.

I watched the game (Celtics fan) and I didn't catch this till seeing the highlights later on.

Kidd shuffles his feet while throwing the fake to Allen. Watch the reply and you see him clearly lift his (left) pivot foot.

Once the fake was done, the ref should only be looking at his feet.

It's clearly a travel, as you have pointed out.

Has anyone not seen the many travels that go uncalled every game though. It's happened as long as I have followed the NBA. I'm not disagreeing with you though, it should be called. Rules are rules.

Ah yes... not used to watching feet during a b'ball game

                  An NBA-type no-call for sure...

True, The NBA is a bitch for travel no calls. Ask ex Indiana coach Bobby Knight, he's extremely passionate about the cause. However it's mainly transition and initial movements where it is missed, at post up and shot stoppages they usually aren't bad.
What is good about the Kidd play though, is being a crucial part of the game the refs reviewed the shot to confirm it was a 3pt shot. So they would have seen the foot movement then and could do nothing about it.

Yeah there are rules and then there are rules. Travelling is never called (although it has increased this year).

My main gripe is the pump fake, get fouled and then jump and shoot that Pierce has made so successful. About 10% of them should be 2 shots (or and 1) but he gets the call 80% of the time.

The main reason for this is once the defender is moving off the vertical it has to be called. As petty as it looks and even though the defender is pulling out of the contest in mid air, any body contact is there for the world to see and the rules say it is a foul.
I agree though, it looks ordinary and yes, "The Truth" has made a career of it

Joe Johnson does not deserve to be there this season.
He was injured for a month and played poorly before the injury anyway.
There aren't many better SG's in the East, but maybe Stephen Jackson deserves inclusion ahead of him. David Stern just threw up in his mouth a little at the suggestion. Even Luol Deng or Raymond Felton would be better inclusions.
Melo barely deserves inclusion but clearly has a huge fan base.
His form has picked up in the past fortnight which makes it look less egregious.

Bogut a bit stiff, but Horford is just as good.
That West team is amazingly good

                                It's all grey areas.
Pierce sets his feet, throws a fake, defender jumps, Pierce pivots into the drifting defender, draws contact then shoots. The fact he has his feet set for the shot all he has to do is eventually follow through and it's deemed "In the act of shooting". This is opposed to someone dribbling the ball, getting fouled, then trowing the ball at the ring. This person is clearly not looking for a shot and just milking a free throw. I not sure if the "fake" is some type of sign the refs are looking for to indicate a shot attempt?
