Re: NBA Thread
Gilbert would certainly be happier with 2 picks in the top 4 in the draft and the Heat losing. Still all in all I bet he'd rather have LeBron right now. The Cavs have to rebuild from nothing now and they aren't likely to have a true franchise player for a while unless this draft is better than most think.Park that car

Re: NBA Thread
Can anyone tell me why the Heat were not fouling in the last 1.5 minutes of the game??? I know the old saying "no point delaying the inevitable" but you have to try and show a bit of heart. They knew if they did nothing that their season was over.
Remember the T-Mac game, Rockets vs Spurs???? I know that is an extreme case but does show anything can happen.Comment

The Mavs were so efficient and hit so many big shots whenever the Heat made a run (Barea, Kidd, Terry), the Heat were clearly at the end of their tether.
It will be a fascinating off season to see if they can re-group and come hard again.Doing my best to use emojis more frequently :oComment

Re: NBA Thread
I just finished watching the game. How sweet was it hearing the Dallas fans drown out the fake fans of Miami in that final quarter. There is something special about watching a team take the long hard road to success, Dallas did that. The other team tried to take the easiest and shortest route.Comment

Re: NBA Thread
If you read Bill Simmons' retro diary on ESPN.com, he declares the 3:59 remaining in the game as the point the Heat gave up trying. Dirk had just hit a jumper to put the Mavs up by 10.

I could understand if it were a 20pt margin, but 10pts with 4 minutes left! Play till the death.
I agree! However as a Boston fan I must do it quietly, as they traded their way to the 2008 title.Comment

Re: NBA Thread
On another note. Can anyone believe how the Heat (esp' LeBron, Wade) have acted this series (or even the season)??????
With the show boating half way through games they end up chocking in, Fake coughing after a loss, and then snapping at the public with the "you people have to wake up tomorrow and go back to your own lives and I go back to mine" calls.
Hate to say the same old stuff again and again, but, I can't think of a time Jordan, Magic, Bird, Kareem, Russell, Hakeem, Shaq, and anyother superstar acted like this????
But then again these people have championships (multiple), LeBron doesn't have one.Comment

Always good reading what Bill Simmons has to say.
Here is his breakdown on the second half of Game 6.

"And maybe that's why, right now, he's in total denial. Even in the postgame presser, when he should have been devastated the same way Magic Johnson was distraught after coming up small in the 1984 Finals, LeBron was doing the Frank Drebin "Nothing to see here, please disperse" routine, bristling at the notion that he choked and taking shots at anyone who rooted against him. That's what you do when you're surrounded by enablers — you blame everyone else, and you never look within. He never understood that people only rooted against him because that's what you do when someone boasts before they've ever actually done anything."
Also the part where he mentions LeBron having things his own way all the way from high school, then closing up when Wade gave him a bollocking in game 3.Comment
