How the penalty taken by Pirlo. Must of been one of the slowest/softest penalty kick to score. Hart almost had 2 goes at it.

Result of Quarter Final 4 played this morning:

England 0 (2 x pens)
Italy 0 (4 x pens)

Italy win 4-2 on penalties.

England lose on penalties? Who'd have thought?

2 Cracking semis on offer, wonder if ze Germans can finally break their Italy hoodoo.

Germany in past matches haven't had a good record against Italy. One of them was the 2006 World Cup semi final.

I think that's the 3rd time someone has stated that.

Just for the memory the 1970 WC semi is famous as one of the best WC games ever.
The 1982 WC final is the other one that's familiar.


On a side note is there any actual Germans left playing for Germany? Know a few are Turkish or Polish background.
Gomez has a half Spanish background.
Boateng half Ghanania.

Even Italy has a few with non Italian backgrounds.

Germany a long time ago never used to be good but now with some of their players coming from different countries and who are really good they are up there as one of the strongest teams.

I think its hilarious. Joe Hart is made to look silly because he flapping away twice.
Arguments for saying it possibly changed the result.

Reminds me of the thread with the vid of worst ever penalties. Maybe the player tried the same thing but the player skill level are very different.

Just a super, super penalty. Big balls of steel indeed.

Totti did exactly the same thing in a Penalty Shoot Out at Euro 2000. It was the Semi-Final against the Dutch. Totti is well know for his cucchiaio (Translation: Spoon) technique.

For a footballing nation like England they definitely have underachieved at World Cups and the Euros not even qualifying in 2008 although not many teams win a world cup and they have which is not easy by any means.

Looks like a preseason tournament. Very different from a euro knock out game. Almost every keeper would be expected the penalty taker to blast it.
Saying that, Not sure it will work again from the same player.

No idea really but Ronaldhio looks too matey with opposition for it to a real game.
