    Re: Euro 2012

    Spain 0 (4 x Pens)
    Portugal 0 (2 x Pens)

    Spain won 4-2 on penalties.

Strange decision by Portugal to have Christiano Ronaldo take the 5th penalty. He never even got the opportunity to take his spot kick!

Agree. That doesn't make sense. It has the potential to have the most pressure, but surely you want to make sure you can actually use the talent of Ronaldo. Just for the record, Ronaldo has an imposing record from the spot. He is 23 from 24 attempts at Real Madrid.

However ... he did miss a massive penalty in the Semi-Final of the Champions League this year.

Ronaldo wanted to be the hero.

I think teams should have their best penalty takers go first, then hope your keeper can save one which will then take the pressure off the others later on.
Bad move by Portugal. In the end the better team won as painful as it is to admit that. I thought we played very well for the first 90 minutes & could of won it in the last minutes with that golden chance to Ronaldo.
Nani was horrible again, i think he has had a horrible tournament other than that 1 great pass to Ronaldo in the Holland game.
Coentrao has been our best, i may be biased but i think he would be one of the best if not the best left back going around.

            Wouldn't think they've underachieved.
Yes they've got the most recognize able league(arguably the most exciting)
But they've never had a good team for quite a while.

agree with this. I saw the England squad for the Euros & thought it was one of the poorer english teams that i could remember.

                Re: Euro 2012

Italy 2-0 up at half time. Balotelli with a header and a right foot rocket.
German all at sea, Italians dominating the midfield and German defence is poor.

Ended 2-1 German penalty late in injury time. German subs made a difference but it looked safe for most the game. Germans pushed forward, Italy missed some chances but deserved win.

It's official. The Azzurri own the Germans.

Everytime there's a crisis the Italians rise to the challenge.

Which is good because if you read the financial papers it seems Italy doesn't own much else these days.

Yes. It was quite ironic that the PIGS (Portugal-Italy-Greece-Spain) of Europe who are all on their knees (financially) made it through to the QFs. Three of them made it to the SFs and two of them will play off in the final.

I'm usually a Spain fan, but after the way they've played this tournament(4-6-0) I'm going for Italy. Balotelli to kick the only goal.
