The other dange is Essendon say no you screwed us around by dropping 6 picks in the first round. We need more than just pick 11

This. St Kilda have set this up today too. They've outright said 'pick 5 won't be traded for Carlisle under any circumstances'. To me that says if they can find a suitable trade from about ladder position 9th (ie Geelong, WB, Richmond or so) aka pick 10-12, it will be that pick. I think we should be trying to at least have a look in at it, be it Hrovat or Talia etc. And then go trading for big fish.

St Kilda might be the first to trade next year's picks and offer Essendon their first rounder next year, which could be closer to pick 10, instead of this years pick 5

However given they are interested in Hrovat, 5 for Hrovat & 11 makes a lot of sense. I think the points system that says the difference between picks 5 and 11 is pick 33 or 34 is about right, and that's about Hrovat's worth after this year.

You don't normally sell low when a player isn't going well, but we could get decent value here by getting involved in the Carlisle trade and we do need to move on the smaller guys that don't kick on with Hrovat, Honeychurch, Hunter, Daniel, Dahlhaus, McLean and possibly McPherson on the list as sub-180cm mid-forwards

If that trade doesn't eventuate, I would do pick 11 for Lachie Henderson. Capable of kicking big bags of goals and playing at both ends

We aren't getting 5 for Hrovat and 11. An irregular playing, undersized tweener is not worth a 6 pick upgrade at the top of the draft.

And Henderson for 11 is WAY overs, considering the amount of leverage Carlton have, and how good he actually is.

I'd take Henderson over Carlisle. Genuine swingman without the WADA or attitude issues

I tend to agree. I think the reasons we are speculating on this is:
- The Saints have made it clear they won't trade pick 5 for Carlisle not that Carlisle is worth that anyway
- The Saints have also expressed an interest in Hrovat and we haven't played him a lot.
- Pick 11 is a fairer compensation for Carlisle
- The Saints could potentially get a KPD and a midfielder for pick 5.

It sounds like we aren't prepared to trade Hrovat unless someone was prepared to pay overs and that is unlikely.

I'm also not sure if there is a particular player we would be interested in to warrant moving up the order.

I would chase him hard, the kid has the complete bag of tools for an inside midfielder. Apparently we were dead keen on him prior to the draft
