The whispers are Essendon have secured pick 5 and Craig Bird from Sydney as part of a complicated deal.
Further information should be available soon.

I wonder if Talia to Essendon and an upgrade from 44 to 30 is worth an upgrade to us from 11 to 5.

Do we have to wait for a Channel 7 exclusive to find out?

If Jed Anderson is worth pick 15, I can totally understand Carlton rating Yarran where they do.

Terry Wallace is saying the Carlisle deal looks like this

                    St Kilda: IN Carlisle, 14 & 44. OUT 5 & 24
Essendon: IN Pick 5, Craig Bird. OUT Carlisle, 25 & 44
                    Sydney: IN 24 & 25 OUT Bird & 14

If it is that way, Sydney get the academy points they need and free up room in the cap.

It appears you're right but on paper (excluding the TPP considerations) it doesn't look great for the Swans.

Essendon have pulled off another good result too.
Have you heard Butters wants to come to the Dogs?

They got the worst of it by a fair way.

Agree. Don't quite get the logic for the Swans. Saints have done well, and a fair deal for the Dons.

Yep, hard to explain but they pick up about 380 points for their academy players and probably get some salary cap relief for a player that wasn't getting a game.

It's all about points for the Swans. Pick 24 (785) + pick 25 (756) v pick 14 (1161) results in an increase of 380 points to use on their academy players for the loss of Craig Bird who was only a depth player to them.

The AFL were not allowing Sydney to a swap a first rounder for two second rounders so I think hey have added a player so that its a player and draft picks which is OK.

Bird is kind of the Veale in the deal.
They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.
