Unfortunately for Melbourne they were already committed to that plonker Viney because of his famous surname, and Melbourne thought he would be the panacea to all of their inside grunt problems.

Carlton chasing Tomlinson from GWS. I hope we are looking at him, he would fit nicely in the backline and is only 22 years old.

I can see no reason why we wouldn't have a ping at getting him. I'd like to know why our name hasn't been mentioned as being linked with him yet. I would have thought players would see us as a vastly better option than Carlton. Perhaps we are having some difficulties with our salary cap. Terry Wallace seems to think the Boyd deal that is kicking in this year is limiting us.

Pick 4, before Stringer & Macrae.

Poor guy has had significant hip issues which have destroyed his pace & lateral movement.
Can play but body has let him down bigtime. Can't blame the Dees for his issues.

Didn't we pay $600k towards Griffen's salary this year? Take that amount off Boyd's and the difference is only one player. I don't know what percentage of the cap we paid this year.

Word at the time was Whitfield was the safest pick in the draft but didn't have the potential star power of other players.
The brave call was Stringer - a real boom or bust type pick. I'm glad we took the risk.

By all accounts - 95% this year, 105% in 2016 with Boyd's contract heavily loaded to 2016.

I think we paid a chunk for Griffen last year knowing that the Boyd deal kicks in this year. On top of that revised deals with Bontempelli and Stringer and co might push us closer to the cap reducing our ability to pay overs for other players.

I heard yesterday that Astbury might have failed a physical at the Lions whihc is probably the reason why they aren't interested.

We seem to have had the cue in the rack this week, still need a backman and a ruck to suit our game plan.

Pies backed into a corner there, might be looked back on as a shrewd piece of work by the Saints

At best we might secure one needs based player. Finding a home for Talia with a reasonable outcome might help us achieve that.

I'm not too bothered by our lack of trading in general, but either a ruck (allowing Roughy to play FB) or a key defender (allowing Roughy/TC to ruck) would be ideal and give us an opportunity to finish top four next year IMO.

Our list looks pretty good, no need for sideway trades.

Agree with that, we've wasted a lot of time on fringe key forwards over the years, no need to do the same with rucks and defenders
