When you consider Wines was exactly what they needed it makes the selection look even worse. They were crying out for a hard bodied ball winner and they instead chose a sort of midfielder kind of half back flanker neither of either really player.

We were extremely lucky GWS and Melbourne were selecting the top four the year we had 5 and 6. Effectively we got picks 2 and 3. Two ordinary outside midfielder types and a tall defender who's not big enough to defend before the real players got chosen .

Although Whitfield was widely regarded at the obvious no.1 pick - my money is certainly on our boys to be the better players.
When they review this draft in 3 or 4 years time - it may well be our two that are regarded as the 'revised no's 1 & 2' - possibly Wines to split them.

On Twitter AFL Season is reporting

Carlton are set to trade either picks 20 and 21 in the draft and are set to trade one of them to the Giants for Lachie Plowman, Jed Lamb, Liam Sumner and Andrew Phillips.

The Giants would then pass on that Carlton traded pick to Collingwood - along with Treloar - for the Magpies' first round picks this year and next year.

That's a lot of players for a 2nd round pick

Sydney's first-round pick has become the latest bargaining chip in negotiations between Essendon and St Kilda over Jake Carlisle.

The Swans would be prepared to help the deadlock if it would allow the club to turn their No. 14 pick (worth 1161 points on the draft value index) into multiple selections, or extra draft points.

The three clubs have begun exploring a trade that in essence would see Sydney switch pick 14 for St Kilda's pick 24 and another selection or two. The Saints would then send pick five to Essendon for Carlisle.

It is no surprise the integrity unit is taking so long to rule on the case. I am really surprised we raised it considering it was very very likely it would run into and past the trade period.

Well it would me. Surely you would want some sort of assurance that the banter between Talia brothers was just that and nothing sinister before you take him on.
