If that's the case well maybe it's for the better. He would have filled a hole on our list but he could be a bit suss in the mental state if one listens to what's been posted on here. Money could be his motivation rather than his environment.

If he's choosing Carlton over us i think that says all we need to know about his motivations and a bullet dodged.

I'm now back wondering about Redpath as a defender again. He has played defence at VFL level. If we could land a tall forward of some competence to with with Boyd, perhaps we could make some more positional moves with players??

He has, he played about half of 2014 in defence in the VFL.

I like Redpath as a player and hold out hopes he can become a valuable AFL key forward, but unlike many on WOOF I don't see him as any chance to be a key defender. His talent lies in his leading patterns, kicking for goal, and straight line speed, but he's pretty terrible agility wise and doesn't do well in one of marking contests. I think a smart key forward would really give him the run around and expose him pretty badly.

All pretty valid points. I think it's spit balling if the Hendo to Geelong and Carlisle to anyone else trades go through. I can't see to many more mature KPDs around that seem tradable. But then again, if Zaine grown and bulks a bit and plays a bit this year he could stop gap with Morris. Zaine could be a great attacking weapon so I'm not in the tent that says he should be a pure defender.

With talent like Treloar (Collingwood), Bennell (Richmond), Tomlinson (Carlton), Yarran (Richmond), Danger & Hendo (Geelong) etc being mentioned I'm intrigued as why we are not being mentioned outside of Carlisle who was not constantly on our radar. I thought we over rated the list a couple of years back and missed getting a young ruckman in to develop. I'm hoping there's a few irons in the fire that are on the quiet from the press.

I don't know if it is possible but if Redpath could lose some kilos and up his stamina, he could be a useful CHF, a position we don't have anyone really specialising in at the moment.

Because of Redpaths limitations and appears to be more your traditional full forward could Boyd play CHF?
With another preseason and more fitness have we got the players around the wrong way.

Boyd has much better hands overhead and is better at using his height to bring others into the game. Redpath is much better leading for the ball. But I hope the Club would fully test the idea you put forward. Who knows? Bevo just has to keep trying things out.

Agreed. Don't understand why people nominate him as a potential KPD aside from playing a few VFL matches there. Arguably too short to play on the monsters and the more agile players would run circles around him

Richmond have confirmed they won't be trading for or offering Bennell a contract.
For those here keen for us to make a pitch for him does this change your mind at all?

Maybe being at Eve nightclub at 5am in the morning didn't help his cause.

To me his value has diminished significantly and now appears to be headed to Fremantle for their 2nd round pick. What a steal if they get it right.

If we could essentially trade Talia for Bennell (second rounders swapping) that would be considered a big win all things considered.
