Silvagni has had his exit interview and looks like he is leaving Carlton. Story in HUN but can't access it. link here
Carlton free agent Jack Silvagni says he is “potentially” leaving the Blues but will continue to work through a decision on his future in the next few days.
The third-generation Blue, who has entertained interest from Collingwood, Essendon and Western Bulldogs, said a decision on his future would be revealed soon but did not confirm his departure from Carlton.
Silvagni briefly spoke to reporters following his exit meeting at Ikon Park on Tuesday.
“It’ll all come out in due time. Potentially (I am leaving the club), it’s something that I’m working on in the next couple of days, and it will all come out in due time,” Silvagni told reporters as he walked towards his car.
“I obviously love the club very much, so it would be a big decision to make. Thanks.”
Silvagni’s departure after 10 years at the Blues would create a second hole in the team’s spine as Tom De Koning prepares to join St Kilda on a multimillion-dollar eight-year deal.
The 27-year-old impressed in a new role as a key defender this season before a groin injury brought his campaign to a premature halt.
Out of contract defender Mitch McGovern also spoke to reporters as he left Princes Park.
McGovern, 30, was not picked in the final two rounds after he returned from a hamstring injury via the VFL, which is understood to have prevented a trigger clause being activated to extend his deal into 2026.
“(The meeting was a) normal chat, just asked how the season went, injuries and what not, it was good,” McGovern said.
“I hope I can play (next season). I’m only 30, so I’ll keep going.”
Asked if he hoped he would remain at Carlton next season, McGovern said: “We’ll see what happens, I don’t know”.

His ability to succeed both in defence and up forward in the VFL & AFL demonstrates he is a competent, adaptable footballer.

Maybe Mihocek can but it's a long shot given he is completely unproven as a defender at AFL level full stop.Comment

Refusing to trade in a player from Carlton because they failed a medical is like refusing to draft a Darcy because they are tall. It’s a variable that is almost certain. Carlton have horrific injury management and fitness standards compared to even us.Comment

May is interesting. I can see why we some (or most) would not want to recruit given his age and recent form. However if he can find anything like his top form then be would be a great short term addition. But it is a risk.👍 1Comment

A focused and fit May on a salary dump for two years makes sense to me, if I don't think about the dickhead factor. If we were able to land Silvagni or Wilkie as well our backline is immediately better than it was this year, and possibly by a decent margin if things go well.
How much does the dickhead factor count? We allowed ourselves to become smitten with the horribly violent Barry Hall so perhaps we can make space for May. It's not perfect by a long shot, but we can't carry what we did this year and it's clear just by looking at them JOD and Buss are two years away from being able to compete strength wise. Lobb needs the freedom to intercept. We probably have to do it if the terms are right.
Note - I know there's others we could consider but I just don't see a Butts coming to us, or anyone else of genuine value. A friend messaged me and said "surely Silvagni isn't the answer given he's played ten games in the position and is injured etc. etc.". I responded with "I'll see what Tom Stewart or Sam Collins are up to - surely they're just sitting around waiting for our call".............this is our reality, beggars can't be choosers.TF is this?.........Obviously you're not a golfer.Comment

According to Cal Twoomey, Dogs are right in it to secure Silvagni and have caught up to Collingwood. Both Dogs and Pies have offered 4 years. He has completed medicals at both clubs
My gut feeling is he comes to us.FFC: Established 1883

Mcrae on 360 said he hadn't had another conversation with Silvagni, but he's informed the Blues he's leaving. That would suggest we are well placed.Comment

Possibly with Silvagni saying it will come out in the next few days means he's been told not to nominate the Dogs until after Wednesday night and exit interviews have been completed.
Bevo is very strict on keeping things quiet until exit interviews are completed, which will happen early next week most likely.TF is this?.........Obviously you're not a golfer.Comment
