Tom Morris reporting that Charlie Curnow wants to get to the Gold Coast Suns but the Blues have told his camp that he won't be traded.
Am I nuts in thinking that could be a win-win for both clubs? Curnow is 29 at the start of next season - it probably nets Carlton two first-rounders and gives the Suns a ready-made forward to partner King.
I'd be trying to make that work from both parties.
Apparently happy to go to Sydney or Geelong as well.
Gettable reporting that we (and Port) are interested in Jacob Wehr from GWS. GWS have offered him a 1 year extension, available as an unrestricted free agent. 27 year old 185cm wing / running defender, played 12 games this season. Originally from SA so may be difficult to trump Port.
From GWS website:
A late-blooming running defender/wingman, Wehr was selected by the GIANTS with pick 59 in the 2020 AFL Draft as a mature-aged recruit after impressing in the Woodville-West Torrens' premiership-winning SANFL side. A classy left-footer, Wehr is renowned for his high work rate and his clean disposal by both hand and foot. After he was unable to break through for a senior game in his debut season, Wehr was delisted but then re-drafted as a rookie by the GIANTS in the 2021 AFL Rookie Draft. He made the most of this opportunity, playing 10 games in 2022 and earning the club’s Rising Star Award. Early in 2023, Wehr secured a spot in club’s starting 22 but a serious shoulder injury suffered in round two against the Eagles curtailed his season as he managed to return for just two more games at senior level that year. Wehr added 11 more AFL games to his tally in 2024.
OUT-OF-CONTRACT Fremantle midfielder Neil Erasmus is on the radar of the Western Bulldogs as he weighs up his future.
The 2021 pick No.10 has struggled to cement a spot in the Dockers' stacked midfield across his first four seasons at the club.
Fremantle is understood to be keen to retain the Subiaco product and is working on a fresh extension.
But the Bulldogs have one eye on what the midfield at the Mission Whitten Oval looks like when Tom Liberatore and Adam Treloar eventually retire and have registered interest.
Erasmus has played 33 games for Fremantle since being selected in the first round four years ago.
West Coast is also in the market for more midfield depth and considering a range of opportunity-starved midfielders across the competition. – Josh Gabelich
Now THAT is something that would be pretty helpful right now.
Agree Its a massive issue MJP, not only could we not defend ground ball against the lions we couldnt move the pill out of D50 in the 3rd. It was exactly the same against the Hawks in the final last year within the 2nd and 3rd we couldn't move out of defence.
Id be putting Freijah back there but options are as thin as it gets. Sammy Power better be working the phones hard the defence needs work we clearly have too many assets mid and forward and back half is bottom 4 on paper.
Butters, Wehr, Erasmus, and all we've got is our first and 2nd rounder... and we've got potentially 2 Father/sons next year? Power and Milesi are going to earn their coin this offseason!!! Come back BT, some of us need your trade scenarios to help make sense of all this!!!

Butters is the focus but if we have to wait 12 more months then so be it.
Erasmus doesn't overly interest me and Wehr won't move the needle. There will be plenty of other names we get linked to.

Sydney Swans superstar Isaac Heeney has revealed his wish for a bombshell trade later this year, dropping the name of rival key forward Jamarra Ugle-Hagan unprompted.
The Swans have struggled for consistency among their leading talls since Lance Franklin’s retirement.
Heeney has been a constant as an undersized target while Joel Amartey and Logan McDonald have struggled with injuries in 2025 after breaking out across the past two years.
Ugle-Hagan has previously been linked to Sydney amid his on-off situation with the Western Bulldogs this year.
But his name is back in the spotlight thanks to a potential future teammate.
“Isaac Heeney’s dropped a bit of a hint on Sydney’s recruiting plans,” Luke Hodge said on Channel 7’s The Agenda Setters on Tuesday night.
The All Australian was discussing life in the NSW capital in a car ride with interviewer Felix Von Hofe when the conversation turned.
“People come up and they want to have a photo it’s generally pretty quick, whereas I feel like Melbourne, the AFL states, can sometimes be a bit more pushy. I don’t know how, say, the Daicos boys do it and live a normal life,” Heeney said.
Von Hofe said: “To any free agent forwards out there, key forwards, this is a great place to live.”
Heeney laughed and replied: “Any big boys — Jamarra, you want to come up?”
The Agenda Setters co-host Dale Thomas said it was “interesting that that was the name front of mind, tip of tongue”.
“So Jamarra maybe to Sydney?” he added.
Ugle-Hagan is under contract for 2026 and would need a trade to secure a fresh start away from Whitten Oval.
But just last month he suggested a move is not on the cards.
“I still want to play for them and I want to win a flag,” Ugle-Hagan said.
“It’s the Bulldogs until my contract runs out and then hopefully they offer me another one, but we will see how we go.
“They have given me opportunities since day dot, so why can’t I get back?”
The 23-year-old has not played a game at any level this season after dealing with mental health and personal issues.
He returned to training in June before spending another week away this month because of a family matter.
Bulldogs coach Luke Beveridge continues to temper expectations that Ugle-Hagan, who kicked 78 goals in 45 games across 2023-24, could earn a call-up this year.
“I can’t really give you much other than he’s chipping away, and he’s training when he can,” Beveridge said last week.
“He’s had some bereavement stuff back with the mob in Framlingham and he’s working his way back through his fitness levels.”

Butters more likely next year and Wehr is an unrestricted free agent so zero trade cost.
Oh and Milesi left. Michael Regan is the Player Acquisition and Strategy Manager.
How are we not knee-deep in Aleek Aleer?
Jones will retire, Marra will not be on the list.
Within reason, spend up, he is exactly D1, no in between.
Why would you choose the saints if we can match the deal?
Not sure on Aleer. Cost is very high for a guy that's never been able to secure a spot in a best 22.
He rejected (amazingly not negligently) something like a $700k offer last year, I'd expect the offer this year is even higher and the draft pick cost would also be super high.
