It seems like we had all our eggs in the wingard basket, and we don’t seem to have the nous to think on our feet, and just seem to wait to see how it all unfolds.

May has so called just came out and stated any vic club, so are we on the phone right now, with pick 7 in hand? Answer, probably not.

Our recruiters etc are weak minded, and that’s already been shown this draft paying a 60’s pick for Lloyd, where north get hall for peanuts.
I think the point of difference at the moment is that the club seems to be quite happy to take pick 7 to draft rather than spend it. At least that's the general impression I have. We may not think that May, who will be 27 in January and has yet to play a fullseason due to injuries and suspension, is worth a top 7 pick in this draft. Seems like 7 wasn't on the table (at least officially) for Wingard either.

I'm not convinced this is necessarily the wrong approach but I'll admit an a-grade recruit would be refreshing. The club doesn't exist to make me happy at trade time though. The club has to do what they think will win us our next premiership. If that's pick 7 and patience then while it's frustrating that's how it is.

Yep and it’s the May camp telling Melbourne to get the deal moving with Hogan or... they are last in line not a comfy position to be in.

I see no reason why the Suns wouldn't want to take the best offer they can. Imagine having 3 of the top 5 picks loaded for what is a strong draft. I think that would give them enough reason to wait it out a bit longer than do the deal now

Imagine the thought of them landing, Lukosius, Rankine and Rozee as a group. I think it would strengthen of keeping the group together

No worries, I understand your reasoning. If that’s the way the club wants to go, then we shall just wait and see what eventuates I guess.

I for one would love to see those 3 players go to GC just to hear the groan come draft night and to see the faces of those 3 on stage with their yellow/red jumpers...and to literally shove it up the SA clubs.

Pretty hilarious to see Port's 'warning' shoved back in their faces too

Just mentioned on Trade radio if they lose May next year they might get pick 2 or 3. Pick 5 might not be enough for him.

Would they be prepared to wait? Who knows what happens next year and whether his value is pick 2 or 3. Think the Suns would be inclined to extract the best currency available to them this year (granted it is in the top 10).

Yeah just heard that too. Personally I feel GC would accept pick 5. I don’t think they’d want another “lynch year” waiting for your capt to say bye bye.

                        Absolutely disgraceful from Port Adelaide

Who knows if we're sniffing around, or have already been rebuffed, but this plainly states he'll go where he's told as long as the Suns see something they like.
Is this just a negotiating technique to put pressure on Melbourne to move with Hogan? Better do something or you'll miss out on May kind of thing?

They don't want him there because he doesn't want to be there. They'll take 5 or 7 I reckon they don't want a liability all next year anymore than that want him doing an ACL.
But then again, I'm an Internet poster and Bevo is a premiership coach so draw your own conclusions.
