Chad might not want to publicly commit to us unless he's confident we can get the deal done

      Thoughts on the trade value?
Port desperately need extra picks for the 2019 draft. They have a Burgoyne, a Mead, a Wanganeen, and a Schofield all in the mix for father/son. I haven’t heard much on Wanganeen, but the other three are quality and could all be first rounders.

I think we leave the offer as a first rounder for next year. I would say sweeten it with a swap of second rounders, but it’s likely that we are going to badly need points ourselves with the father/son crop we have got coming through.

        Schofield is 2020.
What should I tell her? She's going to ask.

Ahh, he is too. Still, three in one year is a lot and I'd expect at least Burgoyne and Mead to have a fair bit of interest in the first round.

Why will we perform worse next year? You would like to think there would be substantial improvement in our list.

Well that, and the notion it'd be quite the feat for us to be any poorer than we were this year.

At guess I'd suggest our natural 2019 1st rounder might slot into in the 8th-12th range.

Youngest side almost every week in 2018.

Experience + the Chad + Libba is cause for optimism to me. Schache seems to be something to start building a forwardline around too, our 2018 weak spot.

I’m hoping out 1st round pick is 18 next year.

Yep. Even Lloyd will help force competition for spots too. There's always surprises like Dunkley in 2016. Maybe Rhylee can do something similar. A preseason of Boyd & Schache working on a partnership has the potential to improve things. Plus anyone else we might get our hands on. I'm a pessimist, but looking back on history, maybe this year was our 1996 and next year is our rebound 1997 less the heart breaking prelim. Just need decent fitness staff to do a decent job.

Our young players were very good this season. They will hopefully get better with another pre season. Schache and Gowers very good in the forward line and great to see Wallis as well chip and kick some goals. So glad we re signed him. Hoping we can get Chad as well. Will offer a lot up there for us. Hopefully Bailey Dale can re-capture his 2017 form.

Will get an 'easier' draw next season although playing the Lions twice won't be easy they are looking like a better side now but if everything goes right form of players and injuries then we can challenge for the 8 again.
