    Re: Essendon

Speedy is the drug Essendon just can't shake itself free of.

Auto correct, I just noticed, injected itself into my post by selecting "Speedy". Being an Essendon thread, how totally appropriate.

One excellent extra side effect of Essendon losing is getting regular Herbatron videos again. Pure genius

I am a bit bemused they have not given Dyson Heppell a farewell game tonight. Their last game is in Brisbane.

They decided to bring in Sam Weiderman and not Dyson Heppell.

Essendon still think they will play finals, and decided to pick their best team

Then explain the selection of Sam Weideman who most people probably didn't realise was still on an AFL List!

Melbourne ditched him for Schache. For once, Melbourne made the right call

Everyone who deals with Heppell says he's a wonderful guy. He stuck loyal to them after everything they did and went through.

I'm very surprised he didn't even get the sub vest. I'd imagine the team & crowd would lift when he comes onto the field. I feel like there's still room for a little bit of sentimentality in football and should have been named in some capacity.

It's not like he's been languishing in the reserves and miles off their best team either, 17 games this year. Former captain, lost a year in the prime of his career due to Hird, Dank & Co. Can't even give him a farewell game with very little chance of finals. Shit club.

I heard someone on the Radio yesterday say the Bombers have one of the best lists. So i had to go check, and I see Weideman there. Couldn't believe it, and then bang he is selected. What a turn of events!

It's obviously Dodoro's parting gift to the Essendon faithful. Surely playing him for the first time of the season at this stage allows Essendon to demand a first rounder when they look to trade him off in order to win yet another trade week.
