The salary cap squeeze is still massive at Collingwood.

I'd be happy to ease their cap pressure by $700k a year to take Grundy off their hands

Whoever gets Grundy is going to be a contender for the remainder of his contract. He will be a game changer, sadly I don't think it will be us.

He is 20 years old and kicked 21.15 goals from15 games this year. I would have thought he has lots of potential.

He is out of contract, and I would seriously look at him as we need genuine forwards.

Ah ok, I thought you meant he should stay at Collingwood. If I was Henry i'd be looking for a change of scenery also.

I am surprised Collingwood hasn't signed him up, but as Sedat says could be to do with salary cap issues.

There is no doubt Junior Rioli is a quality footballer but after having held a spot for him for 2 years from a most stupid ban he has put his hand up to leave the Eagles after just 12 months back.

Do you mean the ban was stupid or that Junior was stupid for getting banned?

This stuff drives me crazy. So tired of young players who think they are entitled to get a game. Ash Johnson has come in and simply played better than Henry was/did. So fight through it.

I seem to recall a very impatient Lochie Hunter as well not being happy with 13 or 14 games a season early in his career.
I think a lot of young players are poorly advised.

I happen to know a very frustrated young player who plays for a northern states based club. He is as frustrated as hell and genuinely concerned about his future as he watches other players from his draft make an impact and move up the pecking order at their respective clubs.

What do I tell him?
Train well. Be the BEST player on the track.
Play WELL in the VFL. Be the player whose effort can NEVER be questioned.
Do your extras. Seek knowledge but not for the sake of it...make the questions you ask GENUINE and work to solve one problem before trying to find the solution to another.
Lastly? Keep your head down. Shut your mouth. And shut your manager's mouth.

Good news. He played last Thursday night. He plays tomorrow night.

Coaches play the players they TRUST to deliver results in important moments. Trust is built and earned through consistent performances over time. If you aren't being selected, it isn't because you aren't good enough - it is because the COACH doesn't trust you yet. Prove it. Build it. Once you have, you will get games when people think you shouldn't...games = opportunity...

In the case of young Henry, Johnson has beaten him out. Play better and you will be back in.

Yeah, I know what you are saying but when you couple it with the contract offer he's received, I dont think he feels very wanted or prioritised

In Bailey Williams first year, I sat next to him at a club function and he was worried about not getting games. I said to him you do your best and an opportunity will present. There are always injuries, or bad form from other players, so you need to grasp the opportunity if you are called up.

Assuming you're talking about who I think you are, I was wondering what was happening there. He head a pretty good 2021 I thought and seemed to have solidified is spot, only to struggle for consistent opportunity this year. Hope he fights through and holds his spot.
