        Re: Tribunal / suspensions 2024

I think the tackle will come down to being illegal to wrap both arms and bring players to ground.

We will end up only tackling around the waist, and then the player with the ball must dispose quickly and not hold it in. This is not a bad thing as it will eliminate most stoppage play and the ball will continue to move.

The current situation is all brought about by the AFL changing rules and coaches adapting and using the change to suit themselves. All rule changes have consequences and not usually for the better. (unless protecting players from harm)

Charlie Cameron free to play. Crazy that the choice was 3 weeks or 0 weeks.

Just proves the AFL donot know what they are doing. The concussed player will miss a week

I'll see if I can find a link to what Gerrard Healy said tonight about some of these hearings and one in the VFL. I thought he nailed them all.

Bedford also free to play through more legal ease.

                    This is worth a look

Gold Coast’s Will Rowlands has had a 4-week ban reduced to 3 for this incident. It was initially assessed as high contact and severe impact. But it was proven at the tribunal that Richmond’s Chad Harris wasn’t hit high, but to the body.
So Rowlands has been suspended for three weeks for a “severe” bump to the body.

Players getting off on errors of law is really funny. These dorks are acting like they’re running The Hague.

I know right. I've always marvelled at the amazing amount of pretense there is to the theatre of AFL tribunals... It's almost unparalleled in professional sports.
You'd be forgiven for thinking it's high stakes Philadelphia lawyers here... until you realise the pretense. They don't even allow precedence?; the masquerading of a real legal justice system is just hilarious.. With the wigs and gowns, they've got all the gear but no idea!

I know the AFL is terrified of concussion litigation but that's all body contact.

We need to become America and make a law that says if our players are suspended we invade the AFL automatically

Wow. Two players contesting the ball perfectly in my book. The "guilty party" took care to get low and bump side on, the "victim" turned side on and protected himself rather than lead with his head as too many players do these days. I'm at a loss with this one, it's not even a free kick.
