    It is the HC team.

Reads like Bevo had the right gut feel; just should have followed that, and not some consultative, rubbish process, save that for less meaningful things.
Maybe as a result of the review and new structures in place at the club, Bevo is doing as his told and consulting/leaning on others more. No longer taking too much on himself.

Not saying I agree it's the right approach in a situation like this. Just offering up why it may have ended up playing out as it did.

I'm tipping a couple of years ago Bevo would've made that call quickly.

I think it makes sense to consult the leadership group.

Coaches “let’s not play him. He hasn’t been up to scratch with his behaviours and playing him suggests that’s ok and the players will be distracted”

Leadership team: “We love the guy, he’s come the wrong thing but he’s a good player and we need good players out there. Not playing him would make it harder to win. We wanna win”

Playing him may have distracted the players and put them off their game, but so could have not playing him.

Easy call to make in hindsight given how it all turned out. A real bummer cause we were flying prior to this BS happening.

Gullan's article is in some ways inaccurate and given the cryptic way it's been presented it will just lead to more baseless rumors.
I can't believe some of the rubbish I have seen on FB last night and a lot of it is because of the way Gullan's article was written.

If there was still debate on Marra's inclusion in the side for the Elimination Final against the Hawks then that is on the club not the player.
The team selected on the Thursday night is the team that plays barring any late injuries. If it's still in the air on match day well more fool an indecisive club hierarchy.
Lobb and Marra are okay, the problem they had has been dealt with a fair while ago. I'd say most the other crap you read is just wrong bordering on vindictive.
If there are still any issues between Marra and Bevo it will be dealt with. I've worked in a couple of places where there is tension between the boss and a high performing colleague and it eventually works out okay.

Do yourself a favor and ignore a lot of what you read on FB. 95% of what you read on WOOF is balanced opinions.

Football is full of redemption stories too - I think we are all hoping for a Jesse Hogan or Stevie J type "penny drop" moment. I really hope it comes sooner rather than later as if we can keep him we'll be over the moon.

People wonder why clubs try to bury things - look at the backlash and crap that I gets thrown around as soon as any little details on an incident come to light. Honestly you must have a single digit IQ to believe this shit, like the gun rumour. Yeah because he’d still be at the club if that happened and not facing firearms charges. How thick do you have to be ffs

I also love how everyone starts sprouting “I heard” “I’m hearing” “I was told” like they’ve got some gospel inside info, when they literally just read a post on reddit, who is regurgitating what they read on Bigfooty, who is regurgitating what they read on a Facebook comment. It’s just one big echo chamber.

Don’t get me started on the “I’m a paying member I deserve to know!!!” comments. We’ve been told Marra is dealing with issues that should be that, we don’t ‘deserve’ to know any more detail than that. If you’re off work for personal reasons does your boss deserve to know the intricate details of why? Maybe he should be able to come sit in on your colonoscopy - He’s paying your bills right? The entitlement makes me sick.

Marra is coping it from every angle right now, front page news, every talking heads show in football, social media. All from people who know so little about the situation. As a supporter base let’s not add to the speculation and slander & try to support him. It’s a delicate situation right now, from all reports we’ve turned the page on the worst of it and now he’s public enemy number 1. The worst possible result for someone dealing with those type of struggles & mental issues is to be the centre of public humiliation.

i hope the club is rallying around him right now, he’s obviously made some mistakes but let’s be honest unprofessionalism doesn’t deserve a death sentence. Not exactly uncommon for a 22yo especially one under intense pressure. Very delicate time right now that we need to support him through if he’s willing to do the hard work, and as a supporter base the least we can do is stop spreading the bullshit further

I don't want to sound cold, but JUH has obviously had his penny dropped moment - if he now doesn't change his lifestyle dramatically to become a 100% fully invested professional athlete at our club, I'm happy for us to exhaust all options and then make the necessary list change if the behaviour continues to fall short of basic standards and doesn't match the support given to him by the club. Ultimately, he is only one of 44 players on the list - you can't have liberties being granted forever to one player when 43 others are doing everything they can to get better and make the team better. Furthermore, he is on $900k a season for the next 2 years - as a 22yo who has obvious talent but hasn't yet consistently performed (to be expected for his age) he is incredibly well remunerated and supported by the club, and there is a natural expectation that he adheres to key basic fundamentals in relation to preparation and dedication to his craft.

Ball is totally in JUH's court. Hope he can make every post a winner moving forward.

‘All those rumours aren’t true’: Lobb defends Ugle-Hagan

Western Bulldogs star Rory Lobb has come to the defence of his troubled teammate Jamarra Ugle-Hagan amid ongoing rumours of behavioural issues.

Some of the rumours doing the rounds include Ugle-Hagan trashing Lobb’s home when he lived with him for a short time, and another about an ugly clash between the pair.

On a post on social media platform TikTok Lobb responded to a follower who asked why he doesn’t like Ugle-Hagan.

“I do like Jamarra, all those rumours aren’t true,” Lobb replied.

Ugle-Hagan, 22, has had an interrupted pre-season with reports he won’t be considered to play until he has fixed fractured relationships at the club.

It was revealed by the Herald Sun the club had concerns around the former no. 1 draft pick’s state of mind before last year’s elimination final.

On television this week both James Hird and Eddie McGuire implored Ugle-Hagan not to waste his career.

“If you’ve lost the trust of the coach and the captain, it sounds like there’s no coming back,” Hird said on Footy Classified.

McGuire added: “Last year in the finals he was out and about before the Western Bulldogs played Hawthorn (in an elimination final). Got four touches in that game.

“Coach was absolutely filthy, captain was absolutely filthy.

“And he’s had a big summer off the field.

“Some say maybe they need to put a red rope out the front of Whitten Oval to get him to turn up.

“I’m being hard on him because I’ve really liked Jamarra Ugle-Hagan and I’m watching a kid just ruin his opportunity for something that’s never going to come around again.”

The only problem of when the penny drops is usually when they get traded. Then pull their finger out and become a star in different colours.

What I loved about the piece is that you have Lobb tweeting something that says it's not true and then a so called "expert" giving an opinion on something he knows SFA about, yet the balance of the article is weighted towards what James Hird thinks. Crazy!

Recycling scuttlebutt that has been out and about for a few days to boot, after Lobb quashed it.

This is all a massive lose-lose for us.

He isn't going to play for a while, so there will be constant noise about him not playing.
He cant be rushed back because of the noise around breaking selection integrity.
He hasn't had a pre season so when he does come back he will under-perform creating more noise.
The noise then becomes louder and unquestionably he moves on at the end of the year, the Swans will get their man. (and of course we will get unders)

all noisy, all distracting, and all not good.

The club needs to get on the front foot with a positive statement (true or not) right now, the way this crap is spreading is not healthy for anyone at the club and turning into a massive distraction on the eve of round 1.

We do have PR staff at the club right? Why are we so ****ing poor at managing our image constantly. Something should have been released yesterday morning at 8am. Our president is the head of Disney ffs surely we have some expertise around here?

Just a “we can categorically state that the rumours are not true, Jamarra has rejoined his teammates at the club after dealing with personal issues away from the club and now working through a return to play plan focussing on his fitness etc etc”

Just something simple say a little bit to redirect the narrative without saying anything of substance, I don’t care but say something rather than just letting rumours of fkn guns and affairs spread like wildfire. How dense are we? Constantly letting the narrative about our club be written by everyone else but ourselves, unlike the big clubs. Geelong have a player off his face at a club and the narrative they spin in the media is a medical issue.

Learn to play the game or bring in people that will

That’s a pretty grim outlook, why try anything?

This club has constantly been in turmoil for years, in the eyes of the media. What’s in the eyes in the media is also what the general public sees.

It’s not healthy and it’s a distraction and detracts from what the club is doing both on & off field

We’re terrible at managing our image, other clubs do it well. Again look at Geelong
