Bevo's contract

It's a weird one. Start of the season after seemingly over coming many issues in the back half of last season I was all in on a new tenure.
Now, after a fair sample size, being outside the 8 with a 1-6 record against the contenders I'm more cautious. Losing some key players through injury possibly offsets that however.
I'm still ok with a two year extension though, just a little more trepidation than prior to this season.
I just feels like we'll never be able to close that gap under Bevo. Good enough talent wise to beat up the weaker teams but get found out tactically against the top 8 sides. Flat track bullies. The curse is dead.👍 2Comment

Yeah and it feels like top 4 has never been more accessible. There's not much between the 4-10 sides. I think Cats, Pies, Lions are the outliers at this point.BT COME BACK!

TF is this?.........Obviously you're not a golfer.Comment

Compare us to Brissy around the flanks and wings and we're miles off. Collingwood as well.
I'm indifferent as to whether we recontract Beveridge. If we're going to do it let's do it for two years maximum.TF is this?.........Obviously you're not a golfer.Comment

Hypothetical...
Should you let go a coach that the playing group loves and plays for? That's one question.
Second question. If so, how bad a coach does he need to be to be let go despite that fact?
I think you'd find that if the first premise is correct, I don't think there is any reality where Bevo doesn't get re-signed this year. Because even though I think a lot of people wouldn't be happy with another elimination final exit, that's realistically our floor right now... and do you choose to let Bevo go despite getting us to 12+ wins and finals basically every year and coaching a playing group that is all behind him?
It's entirely different if we don't make finals, obviously...Comment

The Luke Beveridge contract extension will be announced later this afternoon. The longest-serving coach in Bulldogs history last Wednesday formally agreed to a two-year deal to coach into the '26 and '27 seasons. The players have just been told at Whitten Oval.

I was at peace with us keeping him un-signed until the end of the season, I wanted to see how things played out and if we did another repeat of 'skid into top 8 and bail out first week' I wanted us to look at other coaching options, as that has been the same pattern for the last few years.
Our record against top 8 teams still perplexes me, we are in the games (except Freo / Hawks) but can't finish them out.
The inclusion of Ryan Gardener over Buss and Jones scares the absolute shit out of me.
I do kind of wish we held out until the end of the season before we made this decision, but alas, its done, so all you can do is wish him the best of luck."Its always good to win the Ashes test match'' - Libba, AFL Grand Final, 2016Comment

Based on reports Bevo has been signed for 2 more years.
The timing doesn't make sense to me when it's been reported all along that his extension would be based on seeing us improve from the EF bomb-outs we're all sick of dealing with for much of Bevo's tenure into a team that could challenge for a GF by making Top 4. So, what makes it feel any different this time around knowing we've just gone 1-3 and we still have no idea what our best team looks like?? Understandably it's been a little more difficult due to injuries, but everyone has them.Comment

If guess the club’s already decided to back Bevo, then the timing’s irrelevant... waiting would just be for optics. Announcing it now, even after a couple of losses, sends a clear message: they believe in him in him 100%. I reckon that’s intentional. Bevo’s the kind of coach who probably needs to feel that backing from the top, and if the decision’s been made, there’s no point pretending it hasn’t.FFC: Established 1883
