Naughton had a crack, but more an effective pressure forward than a key forward. Would love to see him as a forward stopper with Darcy back, playing from behind.
I thought Khamis would be at least a point or so higher, maybe a few too many almost moments that stick out.
We leaned heavily on the best 12, way too many passengers.
West with another Cyril Rioli tye game, all impact.
    Great game from VDM.
Lobb and JOD held up pretty well, turnovers killed them.
Bont and Richards were impressive, considering the TAGS, but the scoring system does not account for that for Bont. There is no doubt Richards gets off the chain and is BOG, because they switched the tag to Bont.

I forgot to sort it BTW, so it is in last week order.

Rusty12 - I've been critical of the ratings recently but think you're pretty much bang on this week.... being picky I think Bont is a little low, but you alluded to why and West maybe a couple of points high, but overall, its reflective of the performance.

As you suggested we didn't get the same level of performance across the board, and it hurt us... it's easy to pick on the bottom 5-6 players but the performances of our mid-tier/ developing players like Harmes, Duryea, Williams, Sanders & Freijah was poor, and we needed more from this group.

Freijah definitely dropped off with points the last three weeks - reflective of his performance too. I've felt recently he needed a rest and I'm hoping the bye will re-energise him and he can get back to his Round 6, 7, 8 form. He's an important part of our mix.
"I'll give him a hug before the first bounce and then I'll run into my pack and give them orders to rip him apart."

He will also benefit from a specific role. Either wing or half-back for me, for the rest of the year unless injury.
A lot has been asked for a 2nd year player.
At this stage for Harry Sheezel, rising star award already in the cabinet at home, he was still collecting easy touches across HB with no opponent.

I thought it was the worst game Williams has played in a very long time.

He set the pattern with an early turnover. Gave Geelong early momentum and probably encouraged their tackling pressure.

Where the hell was he playing? I saw him up against Blicavs or awhile.

Truck is not a tall and we shouldn't be relying on him to play on talls.

We have regularly played him on talls.

With the way things rotate the modern player needs to be adaptable.

His early turnover was totally on him.

Many passengers, as is the case with our poor losses.
The middle group, which have been where the improvement has been, we all, 20-30% off.
Lobb's goal kicking, and dropped marks cost him a bigger score, but he, VDM and Freijah were our most combative.
Mcneil and Cleary are done for me, cannot be trusted in big games. If Cleary comes back 6kg heavier, next season, reconsider.
Bramble was not the problem, although, probably hanging on by the skin of his teeth. Khamis was not the problem, but Darcy incoming, what do they do.
Gardner, VFL player, VFL athlete, the game was lost on Wednesday. Loses 1v1s for fun.
Naughton, time to do something different.
West - Mulligan, he bounces back next week.

Thanks Rusty for your effort to put this together each week.

I was surprised to see Cleary matchup on Chol in the first quarter. In fact we started the first quarter bounce with lots of players in different positions - Dale on a wing, Davidson in the forward line, Williams sometimes in the forward line and there were others (I forgot them all)

Rusty12 - good breakdown, only a couple I see as being outliers, but the one I want to focus on is Libba.

Can you explain how he gets a 5 and not a 2 or 3?

                          Sellwood next week.
What should I tell her? She's going to ask.

I'll dig in, when I get a chance. Was a bit high for me to, watching live.

1 - Libba played less "Inside Mid" than normal, and enough so, that his ceiling is lower, and the floor is higher
2 - Of the ball he did get, high percentage of contested wins, and highly effective with the touches he did have (Granted, mostly handballs, but effective is effective)
3 - Small factor, but his effective pressure acts were very high for someone who only had 46% CBAs

Good Win, Still need a scalp, and repeat for next week...........
Good to see no injuries, another week or 2 of that and we will be whole.
Why can't Ed win the Brownlow?
Shout out to Bont for taking the hard tag like a champ and creating 2V1s for his teammates. Coaching genius Ross Lyon helped the Saints get their score doubled.
Trelor with the ball, much improved, without the ball, I still have concerns against good teams.
West was good, but a little hungry, prefer him taking his first option, but when he breaks a few tackles, it is exciting
How do you quantify Darcy's impact on Naughton?
