Pretty cool that according to the rankings, the guys who carried us over the line were Freijah, Williams, Sanders, Bramble, Darcy, Naughton.

There wouldn't be many games in the last few years where all of Libba, Bont, Richards, Dale, Lobb have contributed minimally and we have won.

I reckon you could count on one finger the games we've won recently where all the above were down on their usual output, we get hammered in contested possessions and we concede field position and higher I50's during the match as well as get smashed on tackle/pressure metrics. Not to mention winning a game whilst conceding a staggering 5 goals from D50 stoppages, as well as us scoring 2 goals from turnover in each of our D50, midfield and F50. Also while their ruckman monstered the game and their match-winner caught fire and kicked 5 goals, and their other stars all had excellent games. And away from home against an in-form top 8 talent level list.

That's why the win was so meritorious for mine. We just don't normally win like that and under those circumstances, but we found a way to do so on Friday.

Libba the Legend, ain't done yet, top 10 performance, any player for 2025.
Naughty is starting to look a little naughty.
Welcome to 2025 Sunny, did some good things, especially extracting the pill, in moments, others on the list probably can't.

JOD's form-line is a concern as a KPD. I feel we aren't going to be much of a factor if he is consistently getting 2's and 3's.... as per your comments in another thread he is probably due a role change.

Yep, I think it is a bit unfair to drop him, or blame him, when he is being asked to do something he is not built for.
If Jones is done, we don't know if he is or isn't. For those who see Buss as a D1, it is the shame that Buss has not developed enough to have taken that spot, and release JOD a bit.

I think the coach made an error last week putting JOD on Larkey. Once JOD was moved he played a good game.
At this stage JOD should not be playing on the top forwards until he has some more experience, however, he is still in best 22

How is it an error when we're picking the guy as our full back? If he is getting picked in that situation he has to play on the deepest (and often best) forward at times.

I haven't watched the first quarter in full but it looked like Lobb was closest to Larkey at times in the first quarter anyway?

Larkey murdered JOD in the one on ones. He just didn't match up on him.

Very much a 2023-2024 looking game for the Dogs. Top-heavy, and a big fall away.

Scoring about right this week. I think Dale and Darcy rated a tad too high.

Both players overall stats looked ok, but they did not impact the game enough or trouble the opposition.
More of an In Bruges guy?

Fair Enough, and that is the difference between a data view and an opinion.

Despite getting close attention, impacting his offensive game, Dale has had 11 intercepts (Led the game, next best was 8, what do you want from him?), and worked into the game, as well as he could, I thought he was very good.

Darcy has still had 3 contested marks, 7 Post Clearance CP, 2 goals and 6 Score Involvements. That is an above-average game for any key position player.

Dales meter's gained was well down for the match. I felt we needed a lot more drive off the back half in the 2nd and 3rd quarters and Dale is our best player to do that.

On Darcy my biggest beef with him is for the second week in a row during the first half he was a spectator if he didn't take the mark and he felt he was infringed against.

How far can you drill into the data? Do you give quarter by quarter ratings?

I could, but the game is that, a whole game. Every moment and act matters and contributes to the end result.
With Neil-Bullen sitting on Dale after the first quarter, his offensive game was going to be impacted, but he found way to contribute, that's what we need.
You can't overlook his defensive game, because you wanted him to gain more meters.
Meters gained, in my view, is largely irrelevant, without further context.
Baily Sniff is a great example of this, he had another 550m gained, directly to the opposition.
Dale's retention rate was still very high from the weekend.

Darcy's last 2 first halves were slow, however, he still ends up contributing what he does. The game was in the balance, technically, the entire game, so it is, what it is.

Again, not saying you are wrong, but there is a clear difference between opinion, or how anyone sees the game, and data.

Another honourable loss or just not good enough.......
We are what we are at this point. 19 rounds in, reasons, excuses and opinions are only that.
Fighting for a finals berth, and a long shot to win a final once again.

Either our defensive attitude or the way we set up defensively, or both needs to change.
I am all for being attacking, but in 2V2s in your defensive half, or stoppage in the defensive half (Even in red time), could someone, anyone take a defensive position.... Bont and Libba are great at recovering and laying tackles after the fact, but we are always ball hunting.

Way to bounce back Chugga and West.

Hats off to Cleary, me, and many others rode him off, and he could still completely cook a bog game or moment, but the kid did good.

Hey Rusty - Is there a 'Pound for Pound' team 'threshold' we need to reach in order to win?

Obviously 230 is the highest achievable score...do we win every time we get > 150 for example? The last two weeks we have registered (I think) 120 vs the Bears and 106 vs the Crows. Obviously those numbers aren't getting 'it' done.

What number DOES get it done??
What should I tell her? She's going to ask.
