Rusty how do you explain the difference between Naughton’s score of three last week V seven this week?
More of an In Bruges guy?

Yeh I wasn't alone in saying we should have encouraged Libba to retire for his health, and kept Macrae. I thought at best he would 'play a role' but he's been outstanding, particularly with Bont and Treloar missing.

I felt vindicated in one of the pre season games where he struggled to sprint, but he's certainly got over that problem!

Top 10 contested possessions, clearances and tackles in the comp after 7 rounds.

I was in this camp. Happily eating roast words for dinner each week.

It sure was a great game from Harmes. BAD posted an analysis by Jeff White showing how well Harmes (and Kennedy, of course) positioned himself as sweeper. Really good discipline.

If I could speak on Rusty’s behalf I would answer that Naughts played on the best KPD, who leads the competition in intercept marks and competed extremely well.

Given his opponent I thought it was Aaron’s best game for the season.

I agree that Naughts was good. Really contributed with a team emphasis.

I don’t disagree with this week’s score, my point is I believe Naughton was harshly scored the week prior.

All healthy doubt, was thinking of a few others that were a lot more firm than that.
Surely he gets a break at some point?

                      Tricky one.
Firstly, he didn't have the same volume of easy missed shots or uncontested marks dropped, so a lot fewer penalties.
6 inside 50 ground ball gets, which are critical to creating score involvements and F50 retention, I think this played a big part.
After Q time, he and Lobb did a great job of breaking even in 1v1s, and not getting out marked.
                      Overall, less critical mistakes.

Thanks Rusty. This is a great thread and a real thought provoker on ways of reviewing players games.

                              Thank you Rusty.
This week I would question the relatively low rating for Dale. Thought he was terrific and his ball use in the conditions held up.

Libba didn't get as much but didn't he quell Butters.

Shows a pretty strong team effort when only Davidson was below 5 and I would expect that was due to multiple kicking errors.

Yep, I can see they look low. 6 is still not a bad score, it is still above average for the position.
There is currently no way to add points for, non-stat defensive acts, and Bont helped out on Butters as much as Libba.
Dunks did the same on Rowell last night, and no rating system will show how good he was for it.
If I start adding points for that, then my own bias takes over, slippery slope, but not perfect.
I am more comfortable with Libba than Dale, I thought Dale was better also, and would have guessed an 8.
