I am happy with Davidson either at deep forward or wing. He has demonstrated enough to me to indicate he would do well in either role.
Not as sure about Poulter up forward. He's not as involved in play as I would like once the ball hits the ground. I also wonder about his pace. I think he enjoys the wing where he can hold his width and run the lines. I need to see more of him at deep forward, where the ground narrows and gets more crowded. I'll pay him closer attention during the coming training sessions.👍 1Comment

Can Davidson provide the big heavy blocks for Darcy to enable Darcy to be 1:1 or create separation?

Think M Kennedy or Harmes would be better at this with their size, forward nous, whilst still contributing as a “third tall”.

Bont to transition to the best wing the league has ever seen with his better developed running capacity:
1. Bigger running capacity enables him to cover the ground
2. Enables Garcia, Libba, Kennedy n Red to extract from the contest, puts the ball in the hands of Bont on the outside. With his kicking and vision, would improve forward connection.
3. Proven can impact across all 3 lines, can also direct each as playing coach.
4. When congested along the boundary between the arcs, what better wing is there to add around the contest.
5. Can float back and intercept mark with his height. And then generate play with vision and kicking.
6. Knows when to hold outside shape/space or come in and contribute at the source.
7. Saves his old body prolongs his career
8. Those flowing long locks whilst at pace, bouncing the ball delivering lace out to Darcy….

I really appreciate the bravado. I'm not sure of the prolongs his career thought but there is a bit to digest so thanks.Bont to transition to the best wing the league has ever seen with his better developed running capacity:

Interesting proposition. Can you get as much out of the midfield without Bont in there? If so, I would go for it. If not, you have to put the midfield performance as first priority I think.Bont to transition to the best wing the league has ever seen with his better developed running capacity:

Poulter is a space cadet. He barely stays in the game on the wing, I can only imagine how much he would zone out playing forward.

I read Peter Hudson's biography recently and he said how he never took his eyes off the ball - even if it got kicked over the fence. He was always involved in the game, moving and making position for where the ball was.😂 2Comment

Had a crack at the rd1 best 23, I think my bench is probably a bit small but not sure who I'd swap out.

I’m just waiting for mjp to query the Treloar on the wing naming, and Happy Days to have a meltdown re Harmes but overall this is a pretty good list of 23 players.FB: Bramble Jones Doc

It may favour inside too much with balance and I suspect that’s where we’d see a few adjustments perhaps.
Good stuff.Have you heard Butters wants to come to the Dogs?Comment

If this is your team, I completely get it; if you are trying to predict the actual best starting team, then there is 0 chance Trelor plays wing, which would be my only issue. Trelor's weakness as in inside mid is his defensive running and spread, so Wing might be a disaster.Comment

Treloar on the wing is purely because out of him, Bont, Libba, and Richards, they can't all attend centre bounces.

Harmes is a maybe, I can see Vandermeer starting the season, he's been training well and Bevo seems to like him.👍 2Comment
