There is a slight chance if have to try and keep Darcy up forward and not use him in the ruck as much.
Sorry I should have said third tall in the backline. I would not consider him up forward

The "third tall" role (read: versatile interceptor) is a role Gardner isn't suited for at all. He's a stopper who punches first, marks second.

He certainly isn't going to be an outlet guy in the back half either.

Does the situation with Marra give a chance to Croft to play the ruck/forward role

I don't believe he is ready just yet but he is very likely to debut during the season. We shouldn't try him in the ruck at any level even at Footscray.
He's added a bit of size in the off season but he is going to need another 12 months before he might be ready for regular senior football and the occasional run in the ruck.

Zero Hanger has projected a best 23 for us. It's interesting that they have projected Poulter as a half forward.

FB: Bailey Dale, Liam Jones, Rory Lobb
HB: Lachie Bramble, James O'Donnell, Taylor Duryea
C: Bailey Williams, Tom Liberatore, Ed Richards
HF: Caleb Poulter, Jamarra Ugle-Hagan, Rhylee West
FF: Cody Weightman, Aaron Naughton, Sam Darcy
FO: Tim English, Marcus Bontempelli, Adam Treloar
I/C: Ryley Sanders, Joel Freijah, Matthew Kennedy, Riley Garcia
            SUB: Laitham Vandermeer

Others to consider: Jedd Busslinger, Cooper Hynes, Ryan Gardner, Harvey Gallagher, Buku Khamis, Jason Johannisen, Nick Coffield, James Harmes, Arthur Jones

Surprising that we would want more height down there unless we plan to have someone missing.

They have moved Richards out of the inside group and don't have McNeil in our best 32.

Maybe you should email them your training reports mate??

One footy site has Poulter in the starting line-up on hff.
                  Never seen him play.

I really like that site and the Mongrel Punt. If they wanted the training reports I'd share them for sure.

Who do people think is the ideal type of player to come on as sub? You have the utility option with a player like Khamis who can cover multiple positions at a serviceable level or you can go with smaller option who brings pace into the game at the expense of utility.

I'm generally onboard with the Khamis type player because looking at most projected starting lineups, he could comfortably replace any injury we got in a game, but somebody like Vandemeer can't cover a lot of those injuries.

Experienced player who can kick goals.

Not worried about injuries - can't cover for everything so don't try - do your contingencies within the 22. Think close game, who can come on and impact.

Does Zero Hanger do opinion pieces? All I see them as is an aggregator of other websites articles and tweets.

So bad. They should stick to figuring out how to get more adds and pop-ups onto their site or actually do some research and write the article, rather than letting AI do it.

I love the Mongrel Punt and have paid my money since the start...but I didn't like the Bulldogs preview this year.

Pontificating is fine but you need something to base it on.
