Re: 2016 Draft Watch
He's very young and won't be 18 until the mid December this year so for the 2017 season he would be very much a development player in his first year. We wouldn't need to rush him.
He also well regarded for his intercept marking so he posses a great ability to read the play which to makes him an ideal mid sized defender or winger. He is a good size at 189cm and 78kg and given his genuine athleticism he should be able to play in a number of positions.
It's his ability to read the play that stands out on the field.Western Bulldogs Football Club "Where it's cool to drool"Comment

Re: 2016 Draft Watch
So footy smarts, uses his physical attributes well, seems fairly professional and is a bottom ager. The only thing you need to add is a top 5 B&F finish at his rep team after scraping into the squad at the start of the year, and then you'd have Dalrymples perfect draftee.I should leave it alone but you're not rightComment

Re: 2016 Draft Watch
WILLIE Rioli, the cousin of Hawthorn superstar Cyril, was among those to impress at South Australia's NAB AFL Draft Combine on Saturday.
Rioli ran 2.98sec for the 20m sprint and showed improvement in his beep test, registering 13.2. The small forward/midfielder lost 16kg in the pre-season to put himself in contention to be picked up by an AFL club.
The 21-year-old booted four goals for the SANFL in the representative clash against the VFL in May.
West Adelaide's Conor Noonan looms as the most likely of those in attendance on Saturday to end up on an AFL list and he was among the best performers. He took out the beep test with 14.4 and also did well in the agility test.
Noonan is an outside midfielder who stands 182cm and shows smarts up forward. An injury-riddled year meant he played only one game in the NAB AFL Under-18 Championships, despite having been desperate to show recruiters what he could do.
Liam Mackie, whose cousin Andrew has won three premierships with Geelong, was another to show his wares at the state combine.
He registered 13.3 in the beep test and 3.04sec in the 20m sprint.
At 186cm, Mackie is a half-back who reads the play well and provides accurate kicking from defence. His wiry frame is yet another attribute he shares with Andrew.
Others to stand out were Dylan Whimpress, who ran the 20m sprint in 2.91sec. At 188cm, the medium defender combines speed and a high leap, and can also play forward.
Tye Bedford (a speedy wingman) and Peter Ladhams (ruckman) tested well in the running vertical jump.

Re: 2016 Draft Watch
After T&T post above I've had a look at a number of the more highly rated boys from SA and in the main they've had less than impressive combine results especially in the endurance tests.
Jonty Scharenberg - had a 12 - 5 in the beep test. He didn't run the 3km and was in the bottom 20% for the repeat sprints. His V02 test was very poor. Given he was only average with the sprints it's not a great sign for a high profile player with midfield ambitions.
Ben Jarman - Had a 12 - 10 in the beep test and over 11 minutes for the 3km. His sprinting was around the middle of the players tested and his agility test was in the lower end. He did perform OK in the repeat sprints.
Brennan Cox did well in a number of tests but his beep test was 13 - 5 and his repeat sprint result was in the bottom 10% of the players tested.
There must be a reason why so many of them didn't perform that well.Western Bulldogs Football Club "Where it's cool to drool"Comment

Re: 2016 Draft Watch
Scharenberg's beep test is woeful for a mid. Very surprising. In this age of limited rotations, lack of aerobic capacity is a killer. Our 1954 premiership players are our heroes, and it has to be said that Charlie was their hero.Comment

Re: 2016 Draft Watch
Hes been highly touted for a few years as well. Lukas Webb worked with a PT to improve his beep test and moved from high 13's to mid 14's within 8 months and he wasn't necessarily regarded as a mid. Unless there is a reason it wont be highly regarded it probably pegs him as a small forward and a work in progress.Western Bulldogs Football Club "Where it's cool to drool"Comment

Re: 2016 Draft Watch
And yet he's an absolute magnet. Maybe like the Crouch Bros. at the Crows, slow runners but superb readers of where the footy will end up. Scharenberg was BOG in the u18's GF this year, with 30+ possessions. Will be interesting to see where he ends up.Comment
