    Re: Father/Son Watch

    This could be very exciting:

    Action Jaxson 2026
    Levi West 2026
    Mitchell Croft Cat B
    Darcy ??

Does anyone know when the younger Darcy is available to be drafted ?

I haven’t read too much on Max Darcy to make me think he’s being drafted. I could be wrong, but I’ve not read anything.

I believe he's far to young to even tell at the moment. Fairly certain he is only 13 or 14, so still too early to tell whether he'll make the state pathways etc.

I thought he was 16/17. Either way, nog on the horizon as you say.

Wait for the AFL to change the Father sons rule so we miss out on West and Cooney

Wont happen. Would be a mass protest. As much as we have benefitted, other clubs have as well and its a facet of the game that is loved by fans - allows a transcending of generations!

What may happen is that the price of the picks will increase. How we get points for 2026 is something that we need to work on.

Here’s a thought about the NGA picks . So the AFLin there wisdom changed the rules last year that if one of those is in the top 20 of the draft you the team who nurtured them can’t pick them unless you have the pick to take them . So in affect if you nurture a player really well you are penalised for it. So now the AFL are making noise about not enough indigenous in the competition .. I wonder why ?

Levi West is almost certainly looking like a top ten pick two years out. Going to be a lot of people complaining about us getting him as a free hit.

Well...I think those reasons are societal.

The clubs should not have NGA academies. We all know this. The northern states clubs 100% need them but those in football states do not.

Fully agree. The Academies are working as designed in the Northern States.

Fair enough but Gold Coast is not the Northern Territory. GWS is not Wagga Wagga. Divide Sydney up and Brisbane/Gold Coast and that’s it.

When Daniel Harford interviewed Rylee West last week they spoke briefly on how well Levi is going as a year ten.

Fun fact it seems they both went to different schools.

From everything I’ve heard about him for years, to AA last year, to Calder 16’s Squad and great form in the APS as a young un. We’d have to expect at this early stage he’s going to cost a bit. Which isn’t a bad thing, in fact it could force us to get creative as soon as this year to make the most of the opportunity.
