Jefferson went to Melbourne last year at pick 15 as a tall, skinny KPF - you would expect Croft to fall around that point in the draft too.
If the draft isn't regarded by the clubs as being overly strong then the lack of KP players might mean he attracts an earlier bid but I think around pick 15 is a more reasonable starting point.

It's a good point you make, Jefferson played some impressive games for Victoria and Oakleigh in 2022 and I don't think Croft has done any better.

      Re: Father/Son Watch

Worth noting that Defenders usually have good closing speed and what's measured in GVG's intial post is acceleration. Maybe that further reinforces that he's better of going back to defence since his endurance trick of running up and down the ground won't quite work as well on AFL defenders I'd imagine.

For comparison I looked up Weitering and found "his pace is solid as well (3.04 seconds in the 20m sprint)" which is listed as a positive and is pretty close to what Croft has.

Though for further comparison and to remind us what a freak he is/will become ""But Ugle-Hagan was then the quickest player recorded over the five-metre sprint (0.997 seconds) as he ran his 20 metres in a sharp 2.945 seconds."

Which clubs are more likely bid on Croft and what picks do they have?

Crows I recall have a bit of a history of bidding on our players (Marra), possibly Essendon too?

Melbourne at 11 (14) would be as late as I reckon. They could do with a quality young tall.

I talked to someone at the club years back and that one got shot down. Apparently no axe to grind

Funny to think back on how Wallis was more highly rated and cost our first rounder that year with Libba going at our second

I guess the only risk query on Libba from other club's perspective may have been non-football-related, regarding his his maturity and decision making?
Wallis was a no risk from that perspective, so may've accounted for where they went draft wise.

Q to BT and other woofers…..Given there’s a clear top 6 (excl. GC academy players), the clubs with picks 7 to 10 are GWS, Geelong, Essendon, Adelaide. I understand Croft is going to take a while to develop but given list profile of these 4 clubs and the quality of the players available in draft rated in the 7 to 10 range, do you think any of these 4 clubs might bid on Croft?

I can only guess based on the main power rankings that have him going 11-15 (Twomey, rookie me, ESPN, Fox Footy, Hun and others). They’ve been consistent at this range for a couple of months.

The question I have is whether we would bid on GCS players to ensure Croft slides to at least Pick 9 (at which point we can take he and Lual if he slides). Or whether the GCS deal had us unofficially not bidding on them. It could be a smart move to bid on at least Read but maybe both guys at that range to give us a bigger buffer.

Is there any viable scenario in the trade with GCS that maybe the reverse could be true. That is we were willing to pay more (The F1 component) in return for us to bid on GCS academy players?
