    It will be interesting.

Do the Crows want to keep the hype, publicity and other off field promotional that come along with pick one?

Or do they want to give that to us?

we now have to wait and see how free agency affects the order before we head to trade week.
Does each draft position have a point value aligned to it or for example pick 12-15 are the same?

Each position has a point value

        1 - 3000
        2 - 2517
        3 - 2234

        12 - 1268

We should probably look to trade our pick to acquire more points

Thanks, I thought as the picks got later I thought a range may come into play.

Around the 4th round the points can get quite close and aren't worth much

For example pick 37 (the 1st pick of the 3rd round) is worth 483 points, pick 38 is worth 465 points but they aren't banded together

Ben Brown set to join Melbourne for pick 23.

That would give North picks 23 & 25 - if they swapped those for our pick 12 (as things stand) we'd gain 303 points for a total of 1571.
That covers us for a JUH bid from pick 5 onwards, so we should be able to conjure up remaining pick to cover an expected bid higher than that.

I suspect in any deal we could even upgrade a later pick or mange a fourth rounder in the deal to boost the points total a little further.

Surely a bid for JUH will come at 1 or 2 unless we’ve worked a deal with the Crows or North not to. Hopefully we can set our sights towards working a deal that covers JUH with less than using our pick 12 alone, that is getting something back, and not giving up more.

Crows might have both picks 1 and 2, depending on the Brad Crouch contract terms and subsequent FA compensation. Staggering I know.

Staggering for a player that struggled to get a game in the bottom placed team.

Seems unlikely his contact will be large enough to trigger band 1. Most likely the Crows will then match and force a trade.

Don't think he's ever struggled to get a game, injuries have been his issue.

Talk is around 700k a season for 4 years - it's right on the cusp of band 1. It will help us with points for JUH if we have less teams to have to worry about but I cannot believe that Crouch might get the Crows pick 2.

The state that North's in I can't see the AFL pushing them out of pick 2. It's like a drive by for them. Possibly lose Mcdonald if Crows want Tilthorpe.

Soz. I was mixing him up with his brother who Nicks dropped on form back in July.

This what infuriates me about the free agent issue.

Our draft pick loses value if the crows, or in theory, any team(S) ahead of us in the draft loses a valuable free agent player.

St. Kilda get the player they want. Adelaide get the compensation they want. And WE pay for it.

All of a sudden we have to come up with more draft points and ALL our picks are now worth less.

There needs to be a better system.
