Reset to the start of the trade period J, what would be your pass mark for Sam considering what's available. I've found it really hard to gauge what there is out there this year.

Ruck cover. If we lose English and Martin, which can easily happen, we're down to Sweet and I'm not convinced he's any good.

At least if we had the cover and the cover wasn't played for whatever reason, then we could hold the MC accountable for it. We're kind of letting them off the hook or giving them excuses in not providing that cover.

I get it's hard to find someone who might be available, who meets the requirements, who wants to actually play for us, and is amenable to the terms we're offering. But if the MC and playing list needs to accountable for what they need to be accountable for, then so does the list manager.

Nah. Might have made us a legit chance though. Younger and hopefully fitter than Martin. If Martin can play as much as he can without injury then Power and Bevo get off the hook.

I think being a grand finalist proves that we are already "a legit chance".

I am disappointed that we didn't get a ruckman, and thought Ceglar would be a good option, but a) we need to wait until after the drafts are finished and b) we made the grand final with this group, and beat Melbourne in a match with English and Schache rucking - we have the talent to do it with or without a new ruck.

I'm not Jeemak but gonna answer anyway.

My pass mark was we get a ruck.

A key defender was important, a small forward or something else would have been a bonus, but a ruck was non negotiable.

To not get one is a big fail.

Ladhams I'd agree. Feel like I'd have given up a JJ for him for eg.

Apart from that, no one at all apart from Dawson who we don't need was on offer.

I didn't watch it but 'm assuming it's the word some people use to describe people with intellectual disabilities. That's usually what the R word is

So given that we chose to play Young as a ruck at times and he is now gone, our rucks stocks are actually worse in 2022.

Not a good outcome.

Young is not a ruck, nor was Dunkley for that matter. We haven’t lost any ruck stock.

I think that's an easy out.

Yeah the players that were swapped were hardly inspiring (would have been pretty happy with Ceglar imo but nevermind) but again ignores the possibility that we could've pried someone out. There are so many rucks in the league that are not getting gametime, just because none of them didn't get traded doesn't mean they weren't gettable.

It seems that every trade period, and every draft we come away with the same glaring holes.
Even though the club and coach publicly say they are areas we want to actively address.
Even though every single person watching from the sidelines can see these glaring holes.

1. Indigenous talent.............(JUL aside........it's owls, tumbleweeds and crickets.........and a lonesome wind)

2. Ruck stocks. JEEEEEZ!!! At least a semi capable mature body that can step in when Martin (inevitably) breaks down.

We lost a final to St. Kilda last year because of our ruck situation. NO QUESTION.
We beat Brisbane by a point, a single desperate scrambled point in the dying seconds, game could have easily gone the other way, but we were SMASHED in the ruck. All we needed was a Solid body to break even and we win that game by a few goals.

I know there were no 'Gawn beaters' up for offer but I would have happily taken any one of the ruckmen available. We just need a big enough brute to be a battering ram in the centre square battle.
