Rylee Sanders is certainly eye-catching
Nick Watson seems the type of player who could be poo for 95% of game time and still walk off with 3 goals. Will just have 'moments' even in his poor games, I'd imagine some recruiters would love that.Western Bulldogs: 2016 PremiersComment

Re: 2023 Draft Watch
Easy win for the Allies. Never threatened. They should take out the champs now. Metro almost as lame as the commentators covering the game today. AFL talking about improving draft coverage would want to do something about professionally showcasing their elite junior matches. The commentators didn't know any of the players or how to pronounce their names and must have apologised 500 times for it throughout the coverage. Pitiifull effort.
That aside the Allies were fantastic. 5 of their players could go top 10. McKercher is going to be a star.
Not many winners for Metro but a shout out to Ollie Murphy who had the job on Walter. After a blazing start by Walter, Murphy held him reasonably well from then.Listening to Brahm's 3rd RacketComment

Re: 2023 Draft Watch
How often would Tassie have 3 first round picks in the same draft?
Callinan had some good moments too so it's possible.
Scarily, I remember his dad getting picked up from the SANFL to get a shot with the crows.Western Bulldogs: 2016 PremiersComment

The Allies were awesome, there will be a lot of players drafted from that team.Western Bulldogs Football Club "Where it's cool to drool"Comment

Re: 2023 Draft Watch
School footy is stupid. The kids need to be playing in the state league comps. It's all too diluted. During this part of the year when the champs are on and school footy is going, the standard in the state league games drops away...it doesn't get as bad as private school footy is but it isn't where it needs to be.What should I tell her? She's going to ask.Comment

It is very weird we have so many so-called "elite" pathways, given how WA & SA differ for the 17 & 18 year olds.Western Bulldogs: 2016 PremiersComment

And - to make a further point, when the kids are at school they are obviously going to WANT to play for their school...why wouldn't you? I mean, YES - it's part of what they signed up to do (scholarship or otherwise) but a the same time if you're there 5 days per week of course you will want to play there...then when school footy isn't on you'll want to go and play for your club...
It simply dilutes the pathway though which doesn't help anyone. You need the best kids playing vs the best kids as often as possible...and if 30% of them are off playing school footy for a portion of the season, well, you don't get that. It's rubbish. What should I tell her? She's going to ask.Comment

To be fair to the APS schools, it's the same in WA and SA.

1. Making recruiters look wider and not just one or 2 comps. It may allow them also to hid some of their recruits
2. Give kids a chance to be drafted that may require some developeent. LIN jong is a good example that comes to mind
3. Kids who cannot afford to go to elite schools a reasonable standard of education , which i think is most importantComment
