Re: 2013 draft watch
Been interested to have a look at the KM Mock draft for 2013 over on the other forum. Very interesting reading the profile of the players and seeing how they change across the year.
Realistically, we are likely to have a top 5 pick and should secure some top end talent with that. I am very much liking McCartney/Dalrimple's deviance away from athletic skilful types seen across the Eade/Clayton to more highly dedicated, tough and hard working players.
With that in mind, it seems likely that we will get a good look at Dunstan, Crouch, Billings, Boyd and Sheed. With Boyd being a big forward and all of the rest being mids of differing varietys, I'm interested to hear what people think we need most?
I'm unsure if we need a player like Boyd and would prefer 1 more versatile mid however if Boyd can seriously play and he is a significant upgrade on what we have, I think we would be crazy not to take him. Those guys are rare. I also think someone like Scharenberg, who from all accounts sounds a bit like a Grant Birchall type defensive runner type, is someone we need but a top 5 pick may be a little much.
Obviously early days but what do you think?Comment

Gotta be honest, I'm hoping Boyd. Jones Stringer and Boyd in the forward line.Been interested to have a look at the KM Mock draft for 2013 over on the other forum. Very interesting reading the profile of the players and seeing how they change across the year.

Is Stretch the son of Stephen?
Hope for Melbournes sake he's a touch harder at the pill than the old man.Comment

Re: 2013 draft watch
Yes he is. Is an underager. Almost guaranteed to be father son to the dees in two years. Still needs a lot more beef but is an elite athlete with sublime kicking skills.Comment

Re: 2013 draft watch
I think we all concede J Grant will never be a KPF,
but having him as a wild card in the forward line surrounded by top shelf talent could be very fruitful.Comment

Re: 2013 draft watch
There are similarities - they are not effective as a 'play-making' forward, their defensive work is better than many would credit them for, both can go missing for patches during games and both are execllent overhead for their height.
In short - they're both icing, not cake. I'd prefer Grant as a small forward (if anything) an Hill in the pocket (for West Coast
