Interesting times ahead. 202 sleeps to go
Melbourne get two, and they have Dawes, Clark Hogan .
    They need mids desperately.

Yes i wouldnt mind at all if this turned out to be the case. I do agree that Melbourne and GWS already have key forwards. Melbourne especially need mids and i would be surprised if they went for Boyd.

Do you think we may surpass Gold Coast on the ladder? I think they would go for Boyd. I guess in 2 weeks we may have a better idea of where we are at compared to them.

Your right - but lets not forget what may happen should Buddy Franklin move....

To Gold Coast or GWS? Either way if he moves north it will be good for our case of getting Boyd.

Dare i say though if Boyd isn't a 'good person' we wont be drafting him anyway. Which i am happy with....

I enjoy shedding some light on the facts (in footy the facts are viewed with so much suspicion) and deriving my opinion from them. Obviously I hope that others might join me in this approach and I find it frustrating when that doesn't happen. I realise I must come across as one of the more disagreeable posters on woof! Ah well.

              Re: 2013 draft watch

I think we would be mad to overlook Boyd - we can build a formidable forward line around Boyd, Jones and Stringer that would match the GWS jugganaught that's on our horizon. I just think you can never have enough quality talls and with Roughy and hopefully Talia down back we start looking pretty good down the centre. FWIW - I ran into Matthew Lloyd the other day and he rekon's whoever finishes last will take Boyd without blinking. Lloyd's not my favourite commentator in the world but he had great insight into TAC. He see's Boyd as the clear number 1 pick just totally dominating. If we don't get that low I'm keen on both Sharenberg and Dunstan with the caveat that Sharenberg's kicking doesn't convince me and we desperately need kicking efficiency in our team.

                On a more interesting note:

Trial games in Perth, Adelaide and Melbourne this weekend...anyone going (apart from me?).

p.s. I just read the post about Boyd citing Lloyd. If Hogan was available, Boyd would not be number 1. If Martin was available, Hogan would not be number 1. If you don't think Boyd's athleticism is a potential red flag for a lot of clubs then you are not watching the games. That said - at his size - and with the ability to play in the ruck - he is a unique proposition and someone who could very quickly contribute.

Looking at our draw it's probably unlikely. Giants have made noises about trading picks , hypothetically speaking wonder if we 'd trade a senior player for pick 1?
                  Personally think we should

Only saw him play in the under18 champs to be honest.
The lack of athleticism may count against him.
What would your top 3 be MJP ( at this stage)

                      Top 3?

                      Aish.
                      Billings.
                      Acres.

                      All mids I know.

Boyd first tall forward off the board unless Marsh gets hold of the champs which is possible. Scharenberg best combination key back/running defender and if someone thinks they can make him a mid he might go really early as well. Then there is Kelly, Lennon and someone will bid for McDonald.

They're looking for an experienced ruck . Dare I say it Big Will( he waits for howls of protest)
                            Just putting it out there.
Pretty sure it won't happen though

What do you think of Boyd? And who would be the next two tall forwards in the pecking order?

                                Re: 2013 draft watch

                                Great post mjp, thanks.

For mine (and I haven't seen any of these guys yet this year) the players I'm most interested in keeping an eye on are Billings and Boyd.

Billings is very much a type I can see us liking, big time player who can kick multiple goals (4+) with ease, good at just about everything. Really interested to see how he backs up from a great year as an under age player in 2012.

Boyd for the reason he seems to be that monster key forward we have been after and projecting for, for some time. Again, his performance over the year will dictate if he's in the mix in November.

Don't think we'll get a look at Aish but he's going to be a ripper.
Have you heard Butters wants to come to the Dogs?
