    Re: 2013 draft watch

time to start barracking for Melbourne, GWS and Gold Coast me thinks.

Surely we're in 'discretionary compensation pick' territory.

No disputing his talent, but you need more than that.
Maturity comes when it comes though. Who says that Libba wanted to change?

Nobody is expecting these young kids to be angels, but Dayle couldn't even be mentioned in the same sentence as maturity. His actions leading up to the rookie draft demonstrated how silly he was/is.

Libba's not comparable, but I'd say he's done well to rectify the mistake he's made.

Not comparable? He got caught basically passed out at 3am with illicit drugs. From all reports it wasn't the first time he had done it.

And Dayle may have rectified his mistakes too if on an AFL list and an environment where he wasn't the biggest and best thing since sliced bread. In a foreign environment where he is a junior and needs to earn the respect of his club and teammates.

Staying out to 4am drinking while trying out on his last chance. The Herald Sun called it a 'bender'. Stupid by any means.

Yep... Can't blame anyone or anything else. Just stupid.

I think most people can differentiate between doing something stupid when you're young and knowing you have a week to keep out of trouble to secure your last chance at what is supposed to be your life's dream, and still screwing it up. How hard is it to behave for 1 week? 7 days for God's sake. Clearly a lot of things other than footy are a priority to him.

He now has to keep his nose clean for 6 months to prove himself, that's 26 weeks.

He was 17 years old. Yes he stuffed up but doesn't mean he is a bad kid.

Sheedy had a go at Melb clubs for not offering more for Martin and O'Meara and Martin. Think he is right.

He was nearly 19 but that's not the point. He'd made a mistake (at least in the eyes of the clubs) and was going to be given a second chance if he could behave for a week. He couldn't.

No one said he was a bad kid, just that 7 days was too long for him to be on his best behaviour for.

Yep, it isn't as though he made one or two mistakes -- he made them with great regularity. "Stupid" is as fitting word as any.
