Re: Recent CDs bought & your reviews

Went to Milk Teddy's album launch this past weekend and picked up their debut LP, Zingers.

If you can get past the hipster douchey-ness in the cover and track descriptions, it's a fantastic album. Really symptomatic of the new "jangle" (read: out of tune guitars played by people who can't really use them) which is becoming massive in Melbourne at the moment

P.S: Not being able to play doesn't mean you can't make great music!

My Bloody Valentine. First album in 22 years. Wow. Say no more.

I bought the new Pissed Jeans record Honeys. Just a total slab of dirty sludgy rock. Like late Black Flag, early Rollins Band being molested by Steve Albini. Awesome. Loved their last album, this might be better. Made me feel satisfied but unclean.

            Record store day this Saturday!

Will any posters be going to their local independent record store?

Does anyone have a local independent record store? There's only about 5 left.

Sorry, being slightly facetious, mainly because I'm old enough to remember when they were common. We've lost Au Go Go, Missing Link & Gaslight & others and they're as rare as hen's teeth outside the inner city.

I hear ya man, I'm over 30 and I loved walking up those rickity steps to Au Go Go not knowing what gem you would find. Same with gaslight, talking to Chuck Jenkins about what he was up to and the like.

Loving 'Reflektor' by Arcade Fire ATM, will probs be my fav album of the year. Another cracking release from them, hope they do some side shows when they're over for the BDO's.

Only given it a few listens but sounds like a ripper, have gone a little experimental at times and love the double album format.

Bought the latest Queens of the Stone Age cd last week. It's not wowing me. Very slow. I hope they'll be playing lots of early songs at next years concert.

                              Yeah their new stuff sucks.

hoping they and NIN play a lot of their old stuff.
