I really liked it initially but it's kind of worn off a bit. Interested to see if it has staying power.

I spent a 3 hour drive listening to the new Future of the Left album. Definitely in the argument for their best album. Tight, focused and contains all the wit & invective that's such a part of the FOTL magic. Looking forward to hearing the songs live.

Picked up the Beasts of Bourbon debut, Axeman's Jazz.

Didn't realise I knew half the songs from it already - bit sketchy at the start but a cracker all up. Would have been epic listening to it in 83/84 when it was new.

Loving 'Reflektor' by Arcade Fire ATM, will probs be my fav album of the year. Another cracking release from them, hope they do some side shows when they're over for the BDO's.

Been giving it a good listen the last few days - there's more ideas brimming in every song than some bands can muster in an entire career. In that aspect it reminds me of the White Album and also Sandanista! with its wildly fluctuating styles and rhythms (sometimes within the same song). There are a good 4-5 absolutely scorching tracks that are as brilliant as anything they've done previously.

I forgot to mention it earlier but the new Janelle Monae album "Electric Lady" is excellent. Maybe a couple of songs too long and the skits while not too annoying are still unnecessary, but some great stuff on there.

Also liked the new Superchunk record "I Hate Music". Some catchy stuff on there. Not amazing but a solid rock record nonetheless.

Looking forward to the new Broken Bells (Danger Mouse & James Mercer from the Shins) album in January titled After The Disco, quite liked their debut record.

Unfortunately they're not playing up here in Brisbane, but I've been belting their album to death, I guess I'll just have to do with watching their bike shop gig on YouTube as well as a few other live bits.Stoned and Starving, Borrowed Time and Master Of My Craft are great tunes.

Looking forward to new Young The Giant and Broken Bells albums in January, and the new U2 produced by Brian Burton (DangerMouse) sometime in March.
