Definitely... in fact he released a single at about the same time as this album, called "Boots and Sand", which tells the story of the time he was deported from the U.S on the grounds that his name matched one on the "no-fly" list... a suspected terrorist who went by the name "Yousef Islam"... not surprisingly, the Yanks put 2 and 2 together, and came up with 5. After investigation, it was found (duh!) that it was a case of mistaken identity... and now he's welcome to the U.S anytime he wants... as it should be..

It's pretty original with some great instrumental jamming and epic-type vocals.
This will sh_t the traditionalists, but I like itunes for the capacity to buy half an album - Mastodon's one of them. Bought Oblivion & Divinations - great songs, reminded me a lot of Porcupine Tree (who have a new album coming out for anyone into prog metal crossed with Doves! The weirdest and most beatuful mix)

Gigs/albums for me over the past few months

      * ...and you will know us by the Trail of Dead - bought 'The Century of Self' and love it, and saw them at the Corner - good fun stoner/art punk rock

      * Doves - Kingdom of Rust is another beauty from these Mancunians, saw them for the first time at the Metro not long ago. Quality

Enjoying Karnivool's new album, Blitzen Trapper is growing on me, Bob Evans is ok (love Hand me Downs) Art vs Science ep is good fun & Kasabian's new one sounds ok too

I was at the 97 Falls (and 98, 99, 2000, 2006) I still can't believe this today....I didn't make it to the main stage to see Iggy Pop.

Was caught up with a new temporary lady friend at the time....I was 19 and approx 4 stone lighter (and not married)

Recently bought Pissed Jeans - King of Jeans. Heavyish, reminds a bit of 90's bands like Tad & Jesus Lizard, also a little Big Black and Black Flag. Took a little while but I'm really enjoying it. Songs about the mundane aspects of everyday life, "Dream Smotherer" is probably the highlight although enjoying the epic "Spent", "R-Rated Movie" and "Dominate Yourself" which devises all kinds of self flagellation including withdrawing all of your savings and wasting them. Overall, not overwhelmingly awesome but worth a listen.

Has anyone bought King Khan and his Shrines latest album?
I've only recently come across his musci, and am thinking of buying some.
If anyone has any of his stuff I would be interested as to your thoughts on it.

Billy Talents latest album titled Billy Talent III, is album i am currently listening to and it's pretty awesome. Anyone a fan of punk rock will enjoy these Canadians. From start to finish it's a good listen will no weak songs. Just downloaded Jay Reatard's latest offering -Watch Me Fall- and have listened to it a couple of times. Sounds like another quality offering.

This album has nothing on their best album "Blood Mountain" try that one out if you haven't already. Available at JB for 10 bucks atm.
But then again, I'm an Internet poster and Bevo is a premiership coach so draw your own conclusions.

Didn't realise he'd branched out again from the Peppers. Wouldn't mind listening to this one.

Preparing for fits of cyber-laughter... I'm a Christmas nut, and picked up Bob Dylan's Christmas in the Heart - the old songsmith tackles your favourite traditional Christmas songs! WARNING - this is not an album for the faint-hearted. Bob's famous gravel voice is gravellier (new word!) than ever, and this is not him at his most tuneful. Musical accompaniment, and backing vocals are ideal for the material, but as Bob growls his way through, it's hard not to think "Why?" - Methinks he's playing funny buggers.

But proceeds are going to charity... so he earns browny points for that.

As an unabashed pre '66 Dylan fan this one sounds hilarous, just can't imagine Bob singing a tune to Santa Claus is coming to Town or Silent Night etc etc.

I'm a big fan of Dylan's... do you remember the album "Self Portrait" - there are some songs on that album that he HAD to be joking with! This is in a similar vein... on some he just sounds a bit strange, but there are a few that require at least a half-decent voice range - which Bob doesn't really have these days. And the joke continues in the fact that he has done several things in recent years to affirm his Jewish faith -eg- attending bar mitzvah, etc...

                                Here's the rundown...

1 Here Comes Santa Claus (2:35)
2 Do You Hear What I Hear? (3:02)
                                3 Winter Wonderland (1:52)
4 Hark The Herald Angels Sing (2:30)
                                5 I’ll Be Home For Christmas (2:54)
                                6 Little Drummer Boy (2:52)
                                7 The Christmas Blues (2:54)
8 O’ Come All Ye Faithful (Adeste Fideles) (2:48)
9 Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas (4:06)
                                10 Must Be Santa (2:48)
                                11 Silver Bells (2:35)
                                12 The First Noel (2:30)
                                13 Christmas Island (2:27)
                                14 The Christmas Song (3:56)
                                15 O’ Little Town Of Bethlehem (2:17)
