Re: Recent Gigs & Upcoming ones

I see Morrisey is on tour in Australia. I am a big Smiths fan, but refuse to go and see him. He is a right wing wanker and some of the things he has said make my blood boil.

This story sounds vaguely familiar but still entertaining none the less.
I promise not to disappear again. After all who else is going to listen to my old stories?

They say Burt Lancaster has one, but I don't believe them.

Mulaim thought I was fiddling with his wah wah pedal and kicked my arm. I'll put up with a lot of things but not being kicked-and I don't care who did it so I jumped up on the stage and we had a bit of a fracas.

Luckily the bouncer and I went to school together or I probably would have ended dumped on my arse on the Upper Esplanade outside the Venue.

Mulaim came over after they'd finished playing and apologized for misreading my intention. We ended up becoming mates.

I've seen worse. I once saw Henry Rollins kick a guy unconcious and then deposit him back into the moshpit. To be fair the first thing he said was that the stage was his area and nobody was to jump up on it
There's famous footage of Kurt cobain in the mosh and the bouncer accidently pulls his hair so Kurt smacks him with the base of his guitar which has the strap hook. Guy was covered in blood and started punching the shit out of him.

        It's all petty.

I've seen many I care about knocked out by thugs it's not tough it's not cool it's not anything.

It's a story that people like to share to make themselves seem hard.

        You're not.

Alrighty. It was back in 197ty something at the Royal show at Castlemaine showgrounds.

Come going home time on the Friday night quite a few of the locals decided they didn't really want to go home so the the people running the show called the local constabulary to convince them. Then things turned a bit nasty when the carnies decided that they'd do their best to get everyone to leave and for a while it looked like there was going to be a huge brawl.

Then a flat bed trick was driven into the crowd and the local sergeant jumped on the back then he started reading from a document that went something like "my name is senior Sergeant So and So. If you don't disperse from this area then (whatever the act is that regulates police is called) will be suspended and we won't be responsible for our actions. Back up is on the way from Bendigo and if you're still here when they arrive then the shit will hit the fan." Or at least that's what he said in more official language.

Not surprisingly we decided to head home.

I've heard that story before. Legend says that the crowd parted and one lone warrior stared down the local copper and said just one word. One word that started it all:

                "Nets".
                "It's over. It's all over."

In a really deep voice. Then he just nodded toward the nets and raised his eyebrows.

I saw Interpol and Bloc Party at the Bowl and it was well packed. And both put on a decent set.

Most of my 00's were spent in dark corners of venues listening to dark music but I had friends that would occasionally make me see the ight and these were two bands that they really pushed.

It's good being part of society. I really couldn't believe how many people were into both of them.

I love this mate. Music rules.

I saw Dermot Kennedy at the bowl on Friday night, he's outstanding and allows me to indulge my inner teenage girl.

I saw Frank Turner and the Sleeping Souls at the Forum on Sunday night and it was honestly one of the best gigs I've ever been to. Frank Turner is an excellent entertainer and constantly positive, upbeat, kind, energetic. Just the tonic for these glum times.

We ummed and aahed about getting tickets to see them here in SG, but the venue was a 5,000 capacity fully seated theatre where I'm sure you would have been yelled at and/or chucked out for standing. Definitely would have taken it up at the Bowl!
Wake me up when we get to heaven, let me sleep if we're going to hell

Good luck, for your sake I hope heaven and hell are really there, but I wouldn't hold my breath

And we all found heaven - 2016 Premiers!

Black Flag are touring next month. It may well be the last chance to see them.

I’m going to see Devo purely because I’ve never seen them before and this is the last chance. Given the ages of the band and the fact that 2 original members are deceased I’m not expecting a whole lot.

While I’m a Black Flag fan, I’d have reservations about seeing them in this iteration. I did see Rollins do a Black Flag set at the Corner years ago, so maybe that scratched the itch.

Was it a benefit for the West Memphis 3? On a week night? With the Spazzys supporting?
