It was a good show. It was quite confronting how accurately it reflected conversations I have heard within footy clubs. I thought it was really well cast - I could almost pick what the personality of each character was going to be as soon as they walked out.
Yes, it was confronting. I’ve heard similar comments at workplaces. I thought someone might walk out but no-one did. I think most knew a bit about it seeing as it’s a return season.

I’ve just started an excellent Australian indigenous history course (Uni of 3rd Age-for seniors). It’s illuminating and at times confronting too. Thought it was the right thing to do, instead of me remaining quite ignorant, however I’m finding it fascinating and not a chore at all.

Interested to hear woofer views of those that have seen seasons 1 to 6 (I understand that last season 7 jumped the shark). Do seasons progressively become more commercial/ formulaic or is it a reasonable standard throughout?
          Bit sad quoting myself…

We’re now midway through season 3 and it’s improved significantly from start of same season. So gonna stick with it. Amusing seeing a few minor actors (looking a bit younger) from The Wire in it, obviously playing different bit part roles.

I watched the last episodes of Cobra Kai last night. Have to say, I'm so happy they were able to kind of pull off the campness, keep it soapy, weird and funny. Also glad this extremely bizarre show is finished and behind me.

Also happy that Ralph Macchio and William Zabka were able to make a buck late in their careers. I feel what they got out of the originals wasn't commensurate with the joy they brought eighties kids.
            TF is this?.........Obviously you're not a golfer.

Thought it was a really good finish to a show that started off with a bang, lost a bit of momentum and direction but always held my interest. Tied up the story in a manner that was a solid homage to the films and genre of its time, and probably worked so well because it was a caricature of itself.

Had no right to have the impact on me it ended up having given the level of cheese. Was a proper love letter to a series that I loved as a kid and still do. A special experience too, in that it caught my nieces and nephews attention and we’d watch the earlier seasons together, and 6/7 years later they’ve gone from little kids who enjoyed it to teenagers that have fallen in love with the movies and still want to talk about it with their uncle.

Been watching a show called 'Hung' on Binge. It's about a middle aged high school teacher whose uninsured house burns down. Finding himself in quite a quandary, a female friend suggests he become a gigolo and that she would be his manager.
Yes it has guaranteed nudity in each episode but it also has a lot of humanity and highlighting of human foibles. And humour. And a great intro for the ladies.

                  Have started on:

Reacher series 3. More of the same so far...it's based on Persuader which is one of the more vanilla Reacher books - hoping for better than season 2 but doubting it will be up to the season 1 standards...the source material just isn't as good. Anyway, I'm 50/50 to stick with it. I only watched the first episode but I think 3 are out...the back story to this one was annoying in the book and it is equally annoying now...I actually don't get why they are randomly skipping books etc (I mean, I know they are self contained stories) but it felt reading them that the further you got from book 1 the more b.s. in each book...anyway. Complain, complain...

I also watched a couple of episodes of 'A Thousand Blows' on Disney which I am enjoying. Different story - a couple of Jamaicans arrive in East London in the late 19th century and get involved in bare knuckle boxing...I needed sub-titles for the first episode but got into the swing of it after that...

New series of Rogue Heroes is out this week on SBS which to me is must watch...
What should I tell her? She's going to ask.

I watched an episode and a bit of A Thousand Blows. Got some promise. Stephen Graham is always worth a watch.
Funnily enough it’s the same creator as Rogue Heroes (and Peaky Blinders).

Yeah - it had a bit of the Peaky Blinders vibe.

I liked s1 of PB but just too many episodes and characters for me...no commitment my end. I watch 5-6 episodes and I'm done - then if/when I go back to it if there is a large cast of characters and I struggle to pick up the threads I just leave it alone...re-watching seems too hard.

If Reacher was any more wooden he'd combust!

To me it's fodder, and I managed to get through the first three episodes which were fine I guess. Wasn't expecting a lot......

Needed a laugh this afternoon so I rewatched s3 of I Think You Should Leave on Netflix, which is off kilter sketch comedy. Some of it's bizarre, but it's good for a quick laugh.

I just got on to Reacher and have watched series 1 and half way through 2. It is a show to watch if nothing else on.

Did anyone watch S1 of Surface on Apple TV+?

Not sure what to make of it but it got me hooked and will be watching S2 once it is all out.

I have been wondering about this one and whether to give it a go.

Currently I am watching Severance, Prime Target and White Lotus on a weekly basis. Prime Target finishes this week, so may give Surface a go

No Other Land. A documentary nominated for an Oscar. Favoured to win. It's available on Prime or for free on Channel 4 if it thinks you're in the UK. Strongly recommend you watch.

It's about villagers in the West Bank who are having their homes demolished. There is no armed resistance in the West Bank (that's Gaza). This was filmed before October 7th. It's hard to not to feel for the people in this, I personally was struck by the dichotomy of people having to live in a cave while browsing their smartphone with an internet connection. Not because they are terrorists hiding from drones, but because it's been decided that it's illegal for them to have houses on their own land.

If you can afford to do so, you might also consider donating to this fund.
