My final pick is a tie between Tintin and Jun, Jake's colleagues. They took on a lot of punishment supporting their mate Jake, when they could have undermined his progress and worked against him as rivals at the newspaper.

Not on TV, I finally caught up with MTC play 37 (AFL theme) yesterday evening (return Melbourne season from early 2024, after touring some other states). Thought it was good, quite thought provoking too. Couldn’t help but think of Marra as the lead actor is a good looking, elegant indigenous lad. The way the Bangarra dance company folks helped out with choreography to recreate taking a speccy was remarkably beautiful and effective.

The actor who played the coach was so believable, even had the crooked fingers of someone who has played a contact sport. Actually reminded me a tad of Tom Hafey.

Yes he did have a little of Tom Hafey in him. He was very good.

We’re in middle of season 3 of homicide on the streets (sbs). IMO not as good as season 1, at this stage still watchable. Got a hunch the TV network said let’s make it more appealing to masses. Way more episodes from season 2 onwards, which probably had a negative impact on script quality.

Interested to hear woofer views of those that have seen seasons 1 to 6 (I understand that last season 7 jumped the shark). Do seasons progressively become more commercial/ formulaic or is it a reasonable standard throughout?

I read it was going to be axed after season one. It only was renewed for another season because Robin Williams signed on as a special guest.

Yeah-first season was more edgy & less mainstream. They wrote out one of characters from season 3 too as they thought he was too ugly.

I am yet to watch S2 yet and will need to re-watch S1 before I do. But from memory S1 was one of the slowest burns of a tv show ever made. It took until say episode 7 and then suddenly it hit a frenetic pace. Well that is what my three year memory thinks.

I rewatched S1 in preparation for S2 and you're kind of correct, but, I realised there was a lot of stuff/ context I either missed or forgot second time around and I found the whole season engrossing.

S2 is going well, but it's hard to see where it's going to find itself.

It took me a couple of shots to get into it with S1, ep1, but finally got hooked. Really enjoying S2

Sure have Aza. We own blu ray set. It was our fave show of all time (think we’ve watched it twice, possibly thrice) until we watched My Brilliant Friend & read books the 4 seasons are based on.

I also went to this last night. They seem to be releasing $35 tickets each morning on todaytix if anyone is on the fence/priced out of attending.

It was a good show. It was quite confronting how accurately it reflected conversations I have heard within footy clubs. I thought it was really well cast - I could almost pick what the personality of each character was going to be as soon as they walked out.
