    Yes pretty amazing effort in just their 3rd season.

    Aloisi struggled at City and the Roar but has really redeemed himself.

    If they can get their stadium up and running they could become quite a successfull Western Suburbs sporting organisation which will have possitive flow on effects for the community.

        My understanding is they've made it smaller than first planned. They've turned the first sod a while back (love a good ceremonial sod turning) and it's scheduled to be completed late next year.
        I'd assume 2024 first games.

            Makes sense probably, then play bigger games at AAMI. I thought it was 15 but I believe you're right.

              Anyone watch the Sydney derby on Saturday night? Brilliant atmosphere from both fans, fantastic to see that level of support for football in this country.

              Loved Western Uniteds great fightback win over Wellington too. Bad start to the year, a horrible two week lead in, 2-0 down .. come back to win 3-2. Prijovic and Diamanti made a big difference, cracking finish by Dia to win it so late

                Given the standard of football in the A league what other league in the world would it be comparable to?

                L1 in England, the SPL?

                  Re: A League

                  So the only metric I find useful is squad worth.

                  Transfer market is a great site for this.

                  Prices in millions of euros.
                  If you take Sydney FC and Melbourne City as examples.

                  SFC = 10.05
                  MC = 12.38

                  Bottom of championship.

                  Wigan = 16.95
                  Rotherham = 18.25

                  League 1 :
                  About four or five down in terms of squad value in league one you hit top of a league.

                  Ipswich Town 12.85
                  Wycombe Wanderers 10.70

                  SPL is a shit comp.
                  Rangers and Celtic then fresh air.

                  Celtic : 124.03
                  Rangers : 115.05

                  Next best :

                  Hearts 15.98

                  It not a perfect measure as some squads are bigger than others but it's a good rough guide.

                    One to toil over.

                    There's a reason we have fellas going well over in Scotland. The football feels pretty comparable.

                    For me, the quality of football and the standard of competition are separate and perhaps that's something people need to get comfortable with. Even in AFL / AFLW the focus is always on this micro assessment of quality, I'm not convinced it matters so much, so long as the teams are bringing something to the table and challenging one another.

                    We're never going to have the EPL at home, but the standard of competition can be good and offer fans plenty.

                    All a moot point at the moment, with the APL bosses bothering good will with the fans.

                            Yep it's the worst thing I've ever seen.

                            This game is special to me as it's my birthday game and we all get together.

                            I'm done now.

                              Silly and dangerous stuff. Hard to know what motivates people to act like this. Stepping up security is the only answer and a fine competition shouldn't be ruined by a few fools.

                                G they have so much security. There is no way you can stop a crowd if they decide to go.

                                This is an organised invasion from the North End I would assume at the 20th minute when they said they'd protest.
                                To assault a player.... This is football in this country. As soon as they take a step forward. Gone.

                                I can't see the league coming back from this.
