        Cracker of a game between Portugal and Denmark. Ronaldo confidence(and composure) seems to disappear when he plays for his country.

        I will be happy to see Netherlands go home after the group stage.

          It's a tough group but has the Dutch team significantly under performed?
          I normally like watching them play.

            They have a pretty average back four.

              They played ok against the Danes but just couldn't score. Today they were outplayed yet still had a few opportunities to score. Their central defence is their achilles heel and has been for awhile. They play also play with two defensive midfielders , one of whom is Van Bommel who is too slow and is too old to keep up with the play. Their other two backs play more of a wing back role and float forward to create wide movement. I disagree that these two players, Van der Weil and Willems, are average. They are both young and developing (Willems is only 18 and the youngest player in the tournament. It equates to writing someone like Dalhaus off after a couple of games).

              But as a whole this team has been underwhelming this campaign. They need to thump Portugal and hope Germany beat Denmark to make it through. Highly unlikely.

                Re: Euro 2012

                Results of overnight matches in Group C:

                Italy 1
                Croatia1

                Spain 4
                Ireland 0

                Spain 4pts
                Croatia 4pts
                Italy 2pts
                Ireland 0pts

                Lets say the next games are Italy defeating Ireland & Spain & Croatia draw, there would be 3 teams on 5 points. This is how they are separated:

                If two or more teams are equal on points on completion of the group matches, the following criteria are applied, in the order given; to determine the rankings:

                a) higher number of points obtained in the matches among the teams in question;

                b) superior goal difference in the matches among the teams in question (if more than two teams finish equal on points);

                c) higher number of goals scored in the matches among the teams in question (if more than two teams finish equal on points);

                d) superior goal difference in all the group matches;

                e) higher number of goals scored in all the group matches;

                f) position in the UEFA national team coefficient ranking system;

                g) fair play conduct of the teams (final tournament);

                h) drawing of lots.

                *If two teams which have the same number of points, the same number of goals scored and conceded play their last group match against each other and are still equal at the end of that match, the ranking of the two teams in question is determined by kicks from the penalty spot, provided no other teams within the group have the same number of points on completion of all group matches. Should more than two teams have the same number of points, the criteria listed in points a-h above apply.

                    Agree. The chances he fluffed against Italy were painful to watch. I know they weren't the most straightforward of opportunities, but a one-on-one with a 20 metre break on the last defender should at least result in a shot on goal, not going the wrong way and having Buffon tackle you. Torres of 2008 would have finished it with his eyes closed.

                    Form is a funny thing.

                        Saying that it was a poor performance by Shay Given in goal for Ireland. The first Torres goal was hard but went straight over his head. The second Spain goal he parried back into play.

                          Sweden haven't done very well. Maybe there team isn't very good at the moment like with the Netherlands.

                            Would have expected Sweden to finish 3rd in that group but I certainly wouldn't have picked them to get past France or England.

                              Why not?
                              Traditionally Sweden have done well against England and in the Euros. France are rebuilding and the English haven't really set the world alight either.

                                I expected Sweden to go through with France. I didn't really rate England, but they are proving me wrong.
