That is a surprising development. They were obviously keen, with Choco Williams driving him to the club, introducing him to half the playing list and bigwigs in the footy department. Mustn't have gone too well.

Richmond have been linked to fairly big plays at Treloar, Bennell, Dangerfield, Aish, all seemingly coming up dry. Obviously have cash to play with, be interested to see where that money ends up.

We are a little in the same boat. Media have had us making decent plays at Kruezer, Martin, Carlisle at least, all now reportedly unlikely. There must be money put aside for a $500k+ per year level player, but options are apparently running thin. Is there a surprise coming?

The media is reporting that he missed the scheduled medical.

Bennell could have missed the medical for 3 reasons that I see...
1- He just wants to go to Freo. But why would you even bother talking to Richmond then anyway?
2- He forgot/poor time management. Very bad.
3- He was worried about what would come up. Very bad.

I'm a bit different on the subject. I'd much prefer a guy who has taken a few lines in his holiday over a guy who can't be stuffed making an appointment.

That being said, taking a few lines while prospective employers are looking at you in an environment that tests for that kind of thing....at the very least = very stupid.

If we got pick 34 for Talia. If GCS took 34 for Bennell. That's good. There's no guarantees going past pick 30, so the risk vs reward goes in favour of that trade wouldn't it?

He needs to pick a club, nominate them in the press and annoy a few other clubs to ensure his market value plummets. Whether it's us or anyone else.

No way we will get that. If you want to talk about market value plummeting, Talia is the poster child.

Then substitute our pick 32. Anything else draft or player for the piss ant.

Especially when your previous employer has just let you go after repeatedly blowing your chances with similar behaviour. He appears to be a recidivist, big risk for any club to invest a significant sum.

                        From the AFL site:

"Hawthorn defender Matt Suckling could yet leave Waverley despite the Brisbane Lions' decision to withdraw its interest in the half-back.

The Lions courted Suckling for some months earlier this year but cooled on the unrestricted free agent recently, partly because they did not want to weaken any free agency compensation pick they receive for Leuenberger.

Suckling is scheduled to hold talks with Hawthorn after the Grand Final, but it's understood several rival clubs are circling".

Could we be one of the circling clubs at 27 still has some time up his sleeve. Not a key defender though.

Not a fan of Suckling. Hawks have made him look a lot better than he is. Can't defend to save himself and unable to play up the ground. He has got an amazing kick and that's it.

Actually not a defender at all. He simply plays behind the ball to receive uncontested possession before utilising some unusual tricks by foot.

Henderson to Geelong seemed to have been sorted out by round 20
If you kicked five goals and Tom Boyd kicked five goals, Tom Boyd kicked more goals than you.
